I replied also.  after working with ryan white quality management, I curious to talk about this measurement. A few years back I did a poster for consumers explaining the medical visit gap because it's so darned confusing - and that's just part of how RW determines retention in care

I just got out of the tele-interview and it went very well.

I learned some things (considering the differences in resource rich vs. limited resource areas; whether ER visits count towards or against retention in care) and the interviewer learned some things (AZT was 24 pills a day, 4 pills every 4 hours; my local Ryan White's consumer campaign to explain the Medical Visit Frequency and Gap measures that help define retention in care).

If you have about 45 mins, consider helping in this research project. As I mentioned to the interviewer, our consumer campaign was designed to help PLHIV understand that providers/doctors track various measurements to make sure we are all getting quality healthcare so that HIV transmission is reduced and PLHIV are able to lead healthy lives. When we (PLHIV) understand what data points are being monitored, we can make sure we're getting the right healthcare. By participating in this interview, not only can you learn how being "retained in care" is measured through a variety of ways now, but you can help give your opinions on what you think about what YOU being "retained in care" does or should mean.
