Porn Wikileaks Breaks Into STD Database Used To Test Performers

Many of you may have already read this.  The link to the Gawker story is interesting.  They say the site often goes after gay performers, mainly cross-over performers, accusing them of spreading HIV and destroying the porn industry.  Supposedly, no HIV test results have been made public yet.  One gay porn performer was forced to post his negative test results after the site claimed he was poz.

The spreading of HIV did not destroy the porn industry.  Webcams, amateur sex videos, and easy access to free porn sites via the internet did more damage I would say.  It does bite a big one when test results are made public without consent.  This 21st century sure is bringing about some new challenges for sure.

I'd say publishing a sex worker's identity and medical history is probably criminal.

The performer's know their risk - because that must include their personal estimation about how well they can trust the testing the industry performs.  

If an actor or actress is HIV+, the porn industry should know, and it definitely has a responsibility to keep that person out of unsafe porn, unless everyone is doing the unsafe porn with consent that there are HIV+ present, as I could imagine is the case in gay bareback porn such as Treasure Island.

There have been accidents in bus trips from New York to casinos. The chauffeurs are overly tired and the work schedule isn't conducive to safe driving. If the companies test workers for drug and alcohol use, and if the companies solicit driving records, then the company should be liable if they do not act on this information. Regrettably, I do not think it is acceptable that a public consumer protection group, say, go after the drivers personally and publish their records.  

In short, maybe vigilante activism might prevent a transmission or two - out of how many hundreds of thousands of sex acts a year???  But it would also tramp on the personal right to privacy by a lot people who are playing by the rules.
