very cute!

however, it's take on men wasn't quite right - at least for American advertising. For years I've been pointing out to friends how sexist commercials are because they nearly all protray men as idiots and not at all as "brilliant". The men are shown to be incredibly stupid with their wives leading them in the smallest things and their children either laughing at them or taking advantage of them. That kind of advertising probably works the way it does because women buy a majority of household items.

I must have cognigition issues this morning because I watched it 3 times and don't get it.   ???  What is the point and was there actually a product they were promoting?

Edited to add;

Maybe I am that dumb man who needs a man to handle the small details in life?

They were sending up the fact that a lot of advertising aimed at women centres around products for domestic chores and products for dealing with incontinence/body hair/headaches/cramps. They do this by offering all the products at once with the exhortation that women should sort themselves out.

They then contrast this with advertising aimed at men, which centres around looking good and enjoying yourself (at least, it is the case in the UK).

There is an interesting article in this month's issue of Men's Health about a man who watches 30 hours of daytime TV shows targeted at women. He has some interesting observations.

http://www.menshealth.com/sex-women/plot-against-men

The ads on women's TV are almost exclusively about weight loss, health and beauty products, shopping, and making your life more fulfilling. All the better to push those goods if you can show men as bumbling fools and women as the smart cookies who triumph over them.

Today, and several times a day this week, I saw an ad for Halle Berry's new fragrance. "What makes a woman?" asks the fake interviewer. "Complexity," a coy Halle replies. "Mystery." She sounds convincing. But aren't those just euphemisms for "difficult"? If I became mysterious and complex, everybody would just call me a pain in the ass. ...

It's the kingdom (or is it queendom?) of talk. Incessant talk. The day starts early, with the morning shows offering their how-to bits on better cooking, better money management, better weight loss, better makeovers, better bargains, better lives. I've never seen such a barrage of how-to material, and I write for Men's Health. The message is relentless: You can be better, stronger, sexier.

And the goal of that appears to be . . . babies! Infants are everywhere. Live babies, pictures of babies, baby talk, mommies, grandmothers, and even unripe babies (sex during pregnancy on the Tyra Show). And if you've already had babies, then you'll need a mommy makeover so you can be a better, stronger, sexier mom. My favorite mommy moment: the Kardashians' mom telling us how to be a "hot grandmother." Always wear sexy panties!

I ran some of this by Robert Thompson, Ph.D., founding director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture, at Syracuse University. "Modern women's TV straddles, in bizarre ways, the line between reinforcing old-fashioned gender expectations but at the same time doing it in the context of modern feminist empowerment," he says.

"The bottom line is losing weight, having makeovers, and being more physically attractive. That's how we used to frame women's values. But now it's always framed as empowerment. It's 'I am woman, hear me roar; I'm going to take control of my life . . . by losing weight and getting a better haircut.' "

interesting article, that guy sure watches a lot of day-time TV, but hasn't that always been targeted for women, like novellas and soap-operas used to be, I mean, I can't stand any of the morning network shows anymore, some of them make men look so dumb......
