Title: Medication options after resistance
Post by: TabooPrincess on December 24, 2010, 09:29:07 am
Does anyone know if there are any once a day meds options if someone has built up resistance to one or all of; kaletra, kivexa and viread (as a combo)?

Sorry to be vague, this is for my partner not me.  He struggled with this once a day regime (clearly as he built up resistance) and now I'm concerned that his only options will be twice a day regimes which I think he's going to find near impossible.  He's vague about what the doctors have said to him.  His Cd4 is very low, around 100 so I'm really worried for him.

Any input would be appreciated!

Sorry Taboo

Sorry about saying this below.

Often on this forum I see very moving answers such as : sorry for your loss

I just hope this will not happen because of this virus.

Your (his) best choice is for a combo that will match the virus profile and resistance / history

His CD4 count is low. It is important that is he fully adherent to the combo that will be prescribed.

It is easier with once a day. Maybe for some people it is also easier to forget when it is once a day.

You seem to care about him.

I suppose you will have to nurse him into taking his med religiously.

Regardless of the number of times/day

Good luck and take care of you 2

Eric
