I had my first doctor's appointment today.  My bf went with me.  He has really been a great support during this time.  I have a good feeling about my doctor.  She is a woman so I feel I can talk with her a little more freely, so I am happy with that.

Everything went well, but...my bf said there was a nurse there that was making passes at him the whole time he was in the waiting room and it was obvious we were together.  She started making obvious passes at him while he was waiting alone and then she pretty much asked for his number.  He turned her down.  It's a good thing that I am a generally calm person and try not to let the petty stuff get me down.  But still, it kills me that someone would be so insensitive.  I've just been diagnosed with this disease and its a lot to deal with, and it sucks that someone would be adding something like this on top of it.    I've never had a medical professional behave that way before...  >:( >:( >:(

Anyway, other than that, it was a great day.  I like the doc so far, and I go back in about a week to go over my lab results.  I also located a local ASO.  Finally, I'm so thankful that my SO is in my corner.  I knew he was good before, but now I feel even more lucky.

Sweet C-
I am glad you have good feelings about your doctor and your SO is being supportive.  As far as the nurse goes, I would tell the doc about what happened next time you see her, it doesn't sound very professional at all.  Going to those appointments are stressful enough without having to worry about if you SO is getting hit on or not while waiting.  I am sure the nurse will deny it, but at least you will put a bug in the docs ear to keep an eye out.

Good Luck,
Snow

Sweet, I agree with Snow.  Report that bitch.  She shouldn't be doing that.

I'm glad also that you like your doc, you found your ASO and your SO is supportive.  Good going. :)

I also agree. Tell the doctor. Doctors want to know how their patients and patients' family members are treated by staff. Without patients, you cannot be a doctor long.

My kid's doc has a witch for a front office receptionist and she's the only one like this in the office. I informed the doc and she thanked me for letting her know. I also told her all of the staff realize and don't appreciate how this woman treats patients.

I'll be looking for change next time we have an appointment.

You need to mention to the Doc that you were uncomfortable with the Nurse.

I had a nurse once tell that my Hep C, MS and MGUS were given to me from Jesus to make me a better person...  DOH!!!  I almost slugged but instead I said "Thank YOU and moved in to give her a big ole hug but She took off running and after I talked to the Doc she was never there again.

Its great you are comfy with the Doc but you should never have to worry about Ms. Hormonally Psycho Nursie cruising your guy..

Thanks everybody!!!  Half of me just wants to drop the whole thing.  I tend to be really nonconfrontational and am a real pushover at times.  I guess I really need to mention it to my doc at least.
