Oral sex symptoms.
« on: January 12, 2020, 02:14:48 pm »
Hi, I have been very worried about an exposure I had from Gay male massuse. After my massage I received oral sex from him in the shower since this exposure I have had joint pains in both elbows stomache upset and purplish rash on my arms. I would like to know if I have been exposed to hiv by getting a blow job of him in the shower. Please could you advise me as I am thinking of going for a hiv test because of this. I have been putting of sleeping with my wife due to this and I can’t come up with any more excuses, this happens 10 days ago. Thank you

Hiya,

Getting your penis sucked is not an HIV risk for you. None! So if this was your only sexual activity then HIV is not an issue.

Sorry to hear that you have been feeling unwell but instead of stressing about it see your doctor and treat whatever is making you feel unwell. I hope you feel better soon.

If you have been or plan to engage in unprotected intercourse with your partner this would be an HIV risk to you.

Now I don't judge couples that decide to engage in unprotected intercourse, it's often based on trust and/or past test results within a relationship, however, just note this trust or old test results don't prevent HIV and any unprotected intercourse is simply accepting a possible risk to you of acquiring HIV.

Test regularly, understand your real risks.

Here's what you need to know to avoid HIV infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions. Consider starting PrEP going forward as an additional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as safe in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other easier to transmit STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

Kind regards

Jim

Yes that was my only sexual contact does that warrant testing for hiv or should I stop thinking about it as these pains are something I have never felt before, and also these purplish red spots I have never had before on my right arm.

Hiya,

No HIV testing needed over getting your penis sucked as that is not how HIV is transmitted.
