Ending my relationship with Atripla
« on: December 07, 2018, 09:19:31 am »
After over ten years of Atripla my doctor and I have decided to switch to a new med. Although Atripla has been a wonder drug for me and has kept me consistently undetectable with a CD4 of over 1000 I found out that my provider no longer supports it. A similar formulation is available in in Symflo but I thought it might be time for a new formulation. I never seemed to have the side effects that some people had with with efavirenz in Atripla and TDF which is is associated with some  kidney and bne issues. I have been diagnosed with mild osteopaenia.
After some research and discussion I've decided to give Biktarvy a try. It has the new TAF formulation, its a recommended drug by the IHS and side effects are supposedly few.

let me guess... UnitedHealthCare?   I'm in the same boat.  I'm meeting my doctor next week and have been thinking about making the switch to Juluca.

Strongly considered Juluca as I liked it had only two drugs. Less is more. However it also requires food be taken with it. Always liked the freedom Atripla gave me of not having to worry about a meal. Biktarvy has no food restrictions either

10 years on the same treatment is amazing. I guess if you "have" to fix something not broken, it's better to do it with new improved and top of the line stuff.

I wouldn't mind switching to Biktarvy from Genvoya to gain more freedom from potential drug interactions and food requirements.
