Slowing down the plumbing work.
« on: October 19, 2011, 12:18:05 am »
I'm after some ideas of foods/supplements to slow down things in the plumbing works...ie stop me shitting so often. I'm going 5 - 6 times a day, and it's getting a bit tiresome.  :-[  Stool is fine.

Over the last 3 weeks I've been following the advice from the managing diarrhea section on the aidsmeds website (even the nutmeg) but no change in frequency.

I'd prefer to avoid Imodium, was too effective when I've used it in the past.

Has high fiber worked? It's helped me control stuff down there.

Hey Growler,

When did this start? Did you start new meds? New Diet?

*Lemon juice is supposed to be good to improve bowel movements to normal levels.*

Fiber may be beneficial if you aren't getting enough of it but it sounds like your stools are normal so it's possible you are having TO MUCH fiber which is causing you to digest faster? Did you change your diet?
High Insoluable Fiber foods (Veggies, Fruit skins, whole wheat, wheat bran, corn bread, seeds and nuts) make digestion easier so if you have to much it can result in more frequent bowel movements.

Coffee, Diary and Fatty foods can also increase bowel frequency.

Ah, ha! Dairy would make perfect sense. I had oral thrush last month and so cut out the sugar. In the mean-time I've have probably doubled my dairy intake. Since the thrush is pretty much cleared up might be time to rediscover my sweet tooth.

Thanks Both of you for replying.
