worried oral with herpes
« on: December 20, 2011, 07:56:26 pm »
Please help! 2 months ago I recieved oral at a massage parlor from a female with an unknown history. It lasted around 5 minutes until I ejaculated in her mouth. Afterwards one side of my shaft was very itchy and red for a couple of days. I went for tests about 5 days later and tested neg for everything except genital herpes. The doc said I've had it for years...I had no idea. I got a blood test 4 weeks later and am still HIV  negative. Now my mind is running and I cannot sleep. I read that herpes increases the risk of getting HIV and if this was an outbreak during oral are my chances increased for contracting HIV? Or does that increase only apply to vaginal/ anal sex? And is a test at 4 weeks post exposure good. Please help, I'm in a monogamous relationship for years and this is so out of character for me, and now I'm a wreck. Thank you.

You never had a risk of contracting HIV from getting a blowjob.

In the history of the AIDS pandemic, no one has EVER been documented as having been infected with HIV from having been given a blowjob. I do not think you will be the first.

This is not an HIV situation.

It is reassuring reading your replies, but the herpes outbreak during the oral doesnt create a risk? It did become painful as soon as it was over. If there were breaks in my skin it doesn't change the scenario?

Nope. You were exposed to saliva, which is not only incapable of infecting, but contains over a dozen elements that actually neutralize HIV.

If getting a blowjob is a risk, then kissing is a risk. And kissing is NOT a risk.

If saliva spread HIV then I submit it would stand a strong chance of being classified as a contagious, rather than an infectious disease. Fortunately this has not, and will not happen.

Just so you know, the only confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. That's it. As long as you consistently use condoms for those activities you will be well protected.

This time you have no need for testing nor for further concern about HIV.

Keep in mind other STDs are much easier to acquire than HIV. So we advise anyone who is sexually active to at least once a year have a full STD panel done.
