Question regarding lymph nodes
« on: August 18, 2006, 05:32:43 pm »
On the 14th I met up with a random girl and had no clue of her STD history.  Now I don't remember too much from that night because I was drunk (yes I know..very stupid) but we started kissing and I was kissing her breasts/nipples then began to rub her vagina.  I don't remember if any liquids came out of her breasts but I do know she has never had a child.  Also this might just be paranoia but I was worred that the HIV virus (if she had it) would still be on my hand (if vaginal fluids were present) from a 4am to 9am period of time.

Should I get tested?

freaked, if you read the lessons you would know that even in the hypothetical scenarios u described that u had no risk for hiv. mixing alcohl or drugs with sex is never a good combination. many people under the influence engage in riskier activity than they normally would, or may not remember the extent of the risks they had taken.

good luck, stay safe

Freaked,

You did not have a risk of hiv infection in anything you did with this woman.

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL STIs together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with a sexually transmitted infection.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Although you do not need to test over this specific incident, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Please also read through the Welcome Thread and follow the Lessons links for further information.

You did NOT have a risk in anything you have brought to this forum.

Thanks for your prompt replies.  So there is zero possibility of me recieving an HIV infection?  Even if by chance I swallowed some liquids that came from her breast or touched my mouth or eyes with the same hand that was in her vagina a couple hours earlier?

Zero chance - time for you to move on.  First of all if you swallowed some liquid (which we're quite sure didn't exist) your saliva and stomach acids would have killed anything that was in the non-existent fluid. Secondly HIV does not exist outside the body on the surface of your palm or fingers, therefore you can lick, sniff, suck your wandering hands all you want without any fear of HIV infection.

As I started out the post - its time for you to educate your self about the real ways HIV is spread (ie vaginal/anal intercourse) and move on from these no risk scenarios.

Isn't HIV spread through breastmilk though?  I was researching and read that breastmilk contains high concentration of the virus.

Also, this event took place on the 14th and today I was experiencing a headache and just a second ago looked at my tongue in the mirror and it looks like it could be thrush.

Freaked,

If the woman in question has never had a child it follows that she wouldn't have been lactating (producing milk) when she favoured you with her attentions.  You don't have anything to worry about. Please read our Welcome Thread to learn more about how HIV is and is not transmitted.

Yes it is true that the virus is found in breast milk.  However let's start with the facts in your case.  It is very unlikely that this woman was lactating, unless she recently had a child. Second - unless you consumed a whole meal full of breast milk while suckling this woman's breast - you have absolutely nothing too worry about.  Third you don't even know this woman's status - she could be HIV-, which would again make your no risk situation, no risk.

freaked,

Just to add on to Science Guy's comments, breast milk does NOT contain "high concentrations" of hiv.

In areas of the world where clean water is not always available for mixing infant formula, hiv positive mothers are told to breastfeed their babies because when water (that might be fit for adults but still contains bacteria) is used to make formula, the baby is much more likely to die from severe diarrhea than to be infected with hiv through the mother's milk.

Ingesting milk from an hiv positive mother is NOT a guarantee of infection - and that's for a baby who consumes nothing but mother's milk. A few drops ingested by a grown man is nothing to worry about.

Would a 5'3 130 pound 17 year old constitute as a grown man?

Ok, let me create a hypothetical scenario..

If she was for sure HIV+ and I did everything I said previously (sucking of the nipples AND milk came out, rubbing her vagina then touching my mouth, eye, or whatever else opening), would this still be considered an absolutely no risk situation?

Actually let's not create hypothetical situations. It won't help you. We don't deal in "what ifs" here. The answers you need are in this thread and our Welcome Thread. Do yourself a favour and read them.

I did read the welcome thread, but it doesn't help answer my questions specifically.  The situation isn't really hypothetical because for all I know, all of that could have happened.  That's why I was asking whether or not that would still be considered a no risk or slight risk case?

Okay, you are now saying you were with a woman that was in her third trimester and you sucked on her nipples? Now how stupid does that sound? You know damn well that didn't happen or that would have been in your first post.

Ya, that sounds pretty damn stupid.  I'm just worried because I've read cases of women producing breast milk without even having a baby before.  But if she was lactating and was HIV+ wouldn't that create a possible risk?

Not unless you stayed on her tit for over three months then you might have a very small risk. Now you can quit your "what ifs." I'm done answering that kind of thinking.

Freaked,

It's time for you to get some help from a mental health professional. This constant cycle of "what if" will get you into trouble with the Moderators. They don't tolerate bullshit. We've answered your questions, both the real ones and the hypotheticals.

You need to do something for yourself now. The support you get here is a two way street. We've helped you. You need to show us some respect by helping yourself.

This conversation, as far as I am concerned, is over.

Freaked,

As you are under eighteen, technically you should not be on this website. Either buckle down and learn about what is a risk and what isn't - and your breastmilk question was thoroughly answered in replies #8 and #9 - or I'm going to have to ask you to leave this website.

You haven't had a risk of hiv infection in anything you've brought to this forum. If you read the Transmission Lesson, you will see what actually is a risk. You mainly need to wear condoms for intercourse - when the time comes that you start having intercourse. Until then, stop worrying about sex. It's a natural part of life.

Question regarding lymph nodes
« Reply #21 on: January 20, 2007, 11:05:51 pm »
As a result of HIV infection, are there specific areas where lymph nodes get swollen or is it all over?  Additionally, is it normal to feel lymph nodes in the groin region where the legs connect to the pelvis (the crease area) or does it mean that if you can feel them they are swollen?  It's not like I have to go feeling around for them, since I know the locations of the lymph nodes if I put my fingers on those spots on the groin I can just feel the lumps.  I'm also confused on exactly what constitutes and looks like a swollen lymph node?

Is this still related to your tit sucking episode because if it is it should have went into that thread. If your wondering if your nodes are swollen then they aren't unless you continue to poke and prod, in which case they'll let you know soon enough to leave them alone.
