Title: I just tested positive on March 12
Post by: Bearcub201 on March 16, 2012, 06:49:20 pm
Hi All,
My name is Michael, I'm 29 in Austin, TX, and I thought I had mono last Thursday, March 8th, turned out I have an Acute HIV Infection. I was diagnosed on March 12th and I started Atripla on March 13 and I'm trying to deal with the side effects. I laughed yesterday, and I'm starting to get my strength back. The initial infection hit me really hard. I was in bed for a week and unable to eat because of the sores in my mouth. My questions are many as I plan to be alive for a long time.
When will my throat stop hurting?
When will the nausea pass?
I really am surprised about the waves of sadness I've been feeling today. I've been feeling better about my situation and then BAM, I felt like crying while on my way home from work. I'm also feeling waves of aggression as well. Why does the Atripla cause so many emotional upsets and will this taper off?
I'm so angry at the guy that infected me and possibly my partner as well. I don't know how to let go of all of this anger. I can't think of any other single event that has changed my life so much.
How has anyone else dealt with their anger? I turned away from the church several years ago and I'm happily atheist, I take comfort in the thought that I'll get some rest when I die(hopefully many many years from now)

My numbers are pretty high I guess.

CD8 2850 @ 62%
CD4/CD8 ratio .29
