Partner started therapy last year now dealing with mouth cancer
« on: February 23, 2015, 09:18:15 am »
When I met my partner four years ago he told me straight away he was HIV positive and before we got together he insisted that I have a test too.  I am HIV negative.  He found out he was HIV positive 10 years previous to meeting me and only managed a couple of months 3 therapy before giving up.  In March 2014 he decided to change doctors and start treatment.  His viral load was 1 million and CD4 of 59.  Very quickly his viral load became undetectable and the highest his CD4 got to was 185.  We were happy, things were looking up.  The only problem he had was with candida in his mouth then in November 2014 the doctor said it had mutated and wasn't candida anymore.  After many tests he was told he had mouth cancer.  Tomorrow we start the treatment process.  He is going to have radiotherapy and chemotherapy and a stomach peg.  I'm scared, he's scared.  How is he going to take his 3 therapy when he can't swallow anything?

I am sooo sorry you are both going through this :(
I wish him a quick recovery. Don't forget to take care of yourself, he will need your strength.
BIG HUG.

Good question. What does his doctor advise for techniques?

Sorry you have to deal with all this.
