Question about symptoms
« on: January 09, 2009, 09:50:12 pm »
I have been going to this adult theatre to do mutual masturbation and just recently I have done oral with three guys.  I know, I'm ashamed...

The first time, it was just mutual masturbation, however - the guy used realreally fresh semen (or pre-cum) and put on my penis.  I also had on white briefs that day and when I came home I noticed a red spot in my underwear where my penis was.  Have no idea if he was trying to infect me and pricked hiself and put blood in my urethra or what that was, but I know there was semen, it was just too dark in there to be sure that he put his blood on me.

About 2 1/2 to three weeks later I experienced the following symptoms: diarrhea, nausea, fever, the whole top part of my body muscles ached, three very painful throbbing mouth ulcers, little white dots on the inside cheeks of my mouth (still there), two little purple spots in mouth, swollen lymph nodes in my groin, under arm, neck, and under jaw, flu like symptoms, dry cough, and night sweats

I tested negative at about 5 weeks and I just left it alone because I thought that you couldn't get HIV through non-insertive sex.

Well the night sweats continued, my stools have not been very solid since, it takes a paper cut like a week and a half to heal, and more things that just leads me to think... maybe I was the exception.

However - I did not test again.

Since then I have received two blowjobs and given one.  I have never NOT had any anal or vaginal unprotected sex though.  Actually I have only had actual insertive sex once and that was about 8 years ago!  For years I had no sexual contact with anyone, and just recently I found these adult theatres in which I participated in mutual masturbation and oral sex - probably a VERY bad idea!

A few months ago I noticed small white patches that would come and go on my penis.  They are painless and not raised, and disappear by putting some water or spit on them.  I thought it might have been an HIV complication, but still held tight to the idea that there was no way I could have it.  I know its something though.

Now I'm forced to go to the doctor.  I guess my last oral sex session was with someone who was infected with gonorrhea because yesterday I started experiencing all of the signs of that.  Those have continued over until today, and hopefully I can find a free pill at a clinic tomorrow because I am BROKE.

I know when they do the STD tests though they always do HIV, so I'm really scared about that - so much so that I want to ask them not to do it at all!

I guess my biggest question right now is would those spots that appear on my penis possibly be a symptom of hiv?

Now back to anxiety....

Thanks guys.

See your doctor for your white patches. It has nothing to do with HIV, nor did you have a risk of contracting HIV in the situations you've provided. Make sure you use condoms for anal and vaginal sex.

Thanks a lot for the response, especially now - as I think I just may have an anxiety attack!  Dont mean to get annoying but I just wanted to know...

are you guys SURE that HIV cant be transmitted through the urethra if there is FRESH semen or FRESH blood on it.  I know it cant live in the open but what if its like straight from the open cut into my urethra or semen straight onto my penis.

Also, maybe it's just me but I find it odd that I got every symptom (and I forgot to add that I had a severely sore throat too) of HIV and they all came and left in the same window as it would if someone did have HIV.

Hopefully my tests will come out ok. . .

kid,

I know, I'm ashamed...

Why be ashamed? You've done nothing wrong and you haven't put yourself at risk for hiv infection.

I did do something wrong - oral and mutual masturbation with no condom.  Please keep me in your prayers guys, I am going to go back to the testing place now, I went this morning but there were way too many people there and I thought I recognized one of the cars in the parking lot, so I left.

Well whatever you may done wrong, it had nothing to do with HIV.

The rest just sounds like "the something you know you have" is shame over your sexual activities. That's a whole different issue from real risk for HIV transmission.

Sexuality is a part of our lives and it's to be enjoyed. That's how we were designed. Maybe you know something I don't otherwise, but I can't see what you're beating yourself up about.

Cheers.

Just stopping in to give an update.  I just left planned parenthood for my test and they told me that 1. i had to make an appointment to get tested and i couldnt get one until tuesday and 2. a full std check up would cost me $169.  Seeing as though I have no money  - all that's left for me to do is... wait i guess.

Even IF HIV can only be contracted through penetration - don't you all think it's VERY STRANGE that I had all of the symptoms?  What could it have been do you think?  Just out of curiosity.

No I don't think it is very strange because people come here every day thinking they have HIV and have had every symptom in the book only to test negative. Go to an STD clinic to get checked for STDs.

I will be there first thing in the morning and I will definately let you all know the results.  I had another question though.  Though I dont question your authority on the subject, I was just reading on the CDC website that HIV can be transmitted through oral sex, 1 and 2 - it doesn't live very long outside of the body - but that still doesnt say that it can't live outside of the body at all...  I don't really frequent these boards, just my own post - but I do find it very strange that I did have every symptom including the incredbly wet night sweats, fever, sore throat for weeks, and EVERYTHING else!  And on top of that, I was exposed to some HIGHLY-POSSIBLY infected semen (and possibly blood).  That went from the guys body to mine in a matter of a couple seconds, maybe even less.  Then I put on briefs and it may have rubbed the virus into my urethra or something, I dont know...

sorry for posting again but i have a few quick questions.  how accurate is a test after 5 weeks and should you test positive if you are experiencing symptoms of hiv?  and also, how accurate are thos email-in hiv tests?  are they any more or less accurate than just going to the doc? i know it may save me some embarrassment...

We're done here. You were given your accessment. It is not up to us to convince you of anything. We gave you the facts and it is up to you what you do with them. At no time were you at risk with the situation you've provided.

I swear this is my last time bothering you guys but it would be robbery for me not to come back on here and thank you guys for all of your support through such a difficult time of my life.

You may remember me but probably not - but I was here a few years back and you guys actually stopped me from posting.  Here I am back with the SAME incident because I was still afraid to get tested.  Only thing now was that I HAD to get tested because I had contracted gonorrhea.

Well, I did it today and just as you all said... NEGATIVE!

I KNOW it wasnt all in my head though, however I think somewhere in the powers of my brain I gave myself all of the symptoms.  The brain can be a powerful place i'm learning.  I REALLY DID have the swollen lymph nodes, white bumps in mouth, diarrhea, night sweats, and every thing else!

I am so glad that I was lucky this time... to anyone reading this other than the admins... They KNOW what they are talking about on this site, and to the admins... Thank you.

This site will always have a special place in my heart   :)

And while you're being thankful, make sure you use condoms anytime you have either vaginal or anal intercourse, because those are the REAL risks for sexual transmission of HIV.

About a week ago I had protected anal sex a few times in  the same night.

Well, we were getting ready to do it again and we had no condoms so I made the mistake of inserting my penis without a condom.

I only went in a little bit, maybe about an inch or two deep then I quickly realized what I was doing and immediately pulled out and we just performed oral sex on eachother.  (sorry for the graphics...)

I know I had a risk, I just wanted to know if it was a great risk or not.  I was also wondering what is the percentage of people who experience ARS symptoms.

I asked him if he had AIDS or HIV afterwards and he assured me that he didn't have anything, but I know that just taking his word isn't enough.  I messed up this time, I know...

I've merged your threads here. Please follow our rule and keep all of your entries in this same thread.

Yes, you did have a risk. Given the brevity of the risk and that is was the one time I consider it a low-level risk. But low risk is not the same as no risk. You do need to get tested at 13 weeks to confirm what will hopefuilly be your negative status.

For the future you have to remember that practicing safer sex is not something that you do just when it's convenient. We're talking here about your health and ultmately saving your life. It's as stark and as real as that. Use condoms consistently and if you don't have one handy then don't have intercourse. You can do other sexual things instead which won't put you at risk.

Good luck with your test. I believe you are likely to come out of it ok.

Question about symptoms
« Reply #19 on: October 14, 2009, 11:34:28 am »
I had a risky encounter a couple months ago and I was wondering if my symptoms sounded like it could be HIV. I have had diarrhea for about a month now, I have also lost about 7 pounds in about a month.  Also, I got the flu twice in a month, both times it lasted a few days but it was really bad.  There hasnt been any lymph node swelling or muscle aches... I am going to the doc today about the diarrhea problems... please let me know your thoughts.

fs,

I've merged your new thread into your original thread - where you should post all your additional thoughts or questions. It helps us to help you when you keep all your additional thoughts or questions in one thread. You've been told this in the past, so please get with the program.

If you need help finding your thread when you come here, click on the "Show own posts" link under your name in the left-hand column of any forum page.

Please also read through the Welcome Thread so you can familiarize yourself with our Forum Posting Guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation.

Nothing about your symptoms is hiv-specific. Anything could be causing them, so it's good to hear you're seeing a doctor.

If you're talking about the same incident you were back in March, why haven't you tested yet? If you're concerned about a new incident, please tell us what happened so we can assess your risk. You might be worrying over nothing.

If you have had an actual risk, you will NEVER know your hiv status going by any symptoms or importantly, the LACK of symptoms. The ONLY way to know your hiv status is to test at the appropriate time. The testing window for hiv is three months.

My last risky encounter was in late june (a few seconds of unprotected sex, i was the top), and in august is when i got sick with the flu.  It lasted about 3 days but the diarrhea never went away.  I actually still have diarrhea and have had the flu for a total of 3 times since then.  I am pretty sure I pushed my luck and got infected this time... I am just getting over my third bout of the flu and my throat feels like I am swallowing a brick! And the night sweats have been so bad its like puddles of water in my bed.  I've also lost about 15 pounds since all this started...

scared is not even the word...

kid,

The ONLY way to know your hiv status is to test. What are you waiting for? If your last risky incident was back in late June, it's been five months. You should have tested two months ago as the window period for hiv testing is three months.

Stop trying to figure out if you're hiv positive or not by obsessing over your symptoms. Just go test and get it over with. If you ARE poz, not testing will not make it go away.

GO TEST. A result now will be conclusive.

You can rattle off all the symptoms you want to. None of them are in anyway HIV specific.

Your June risk was very minimal. I suggest you stop this drama and get tested. Fortunately feelings are not facts and the facts of your situation lead me to expect you to test negative. But until you actually test everything is just guessing.

As for your symptoms, you should be discussing those with your doctor.
