This May has been definitely a nightmare for me!! After diagnosed with anal warts I also got tested for HIV and it came back positive. My life has just ruined. I am only 19 and I dont think I will have a bright future :( Healing process is not easy for me. Crying for weeks just doesnt seem enough. I am so blessed I have very supportive family and they help me going through all this, especially my mom. I have been on medication since 15th of May with CD 4 140. I forgot about the VL. I take fixed dose combination (evapirenz, lamivudine, and tenofovir) once a day. Thank God I havent experienced any side effects. About the warts, I had it removed by electrocautery surgery on 16th of June. At first I thought that it will be really hurt post surgery. But I only experience a lil comfortable just in the 1st BM. After that all gone well. But 3 days afters surgery rectal discharge started coming out of my butt. It is yellowish colour and sometimes brown. But not every time. My scar also has been swollen. I am afraid that this is sign of infection. Or worse, absccess. I am scared to death if I also get absccess and develop into fistula. Eventhough the swollen scar doesnt hurt and I dont have fever. Until now I stiil have rectal discharge. Is that a normal things guys for you who have been in warts surgery? Am I develop any sign of infection? Or even abscces?

Hi

Sorry to hear about the diagnosis but you are going to be fine.
As for the warts and post surgical discharge you should be going back to the doctor with this as it can indeed be a sign of infection, this is the risk with any sugary.

The sooner you see a doctor the sooner it can be treated and you can move on with your life.

Hope you feel better soon.

(I split your post as the other thread was a zombie thread and also keeping your own fears and concerns in your own threads , is preferably here than adding to someones thread)

Hi Steve,

It may take a while for you to realize your life is going to go on and it will be a good life.  It's good that you are on the meds. When they kick in they do a good job of protecting your health.

As for the anal discharge you are having after the surgery, that happens sometimes and it doesn't mean anything big and awful is going on. Stay in touch with your doctor and surgeon about it.  Yes, it will get cleared up.  Among other things soaking in a warm bath with epson salts can be helpful. Try it.

Remember you can always come here to discuss anything that is on your mind.

There is a community of support and experience for you here to draw upon.

Best to you.

Andy

over time your views will change and this will become one of your less important concerns. give it time. get therapy if it is available to you. join a men's group. once the initial shock wears off and you can shed your scarlet letter you will feel better.

There is still a wonderful life for you out there. trust me. take care of you body, heart and head the best you can.

regards,
~d
