it is now six months since dad passed on, was downloading music from frostwire the night before last. so many good oldies and music he liked came to mind, so what does one do after downloading them i listened and got myself smiling but also the odd tear running down my face.

one in particular is the song "no more boleros" and to my surprise when Andy heard the music he came and sit with me and it so happened that it is his favourite song just the same as what it was dad's. Dad and Andy have so much in common and their likes and dislikes are exactly the same. even music. they are the most gentle souls I have in my life, and the memory of dad and his love, cannot be compared in a million years.

i find myself listening to music and be thinking of someone or an event in my life. I even downloaded music from the '70's, Andy just smiled and said he can't believe that i can remeber back all those years when music was good, and the 80's....... Hazell Dean's "who is leaving who" LOL this is giving away so much info on me ....ha ha ha

80's music, was the bomb.  My dad used to blare it as a kid especially stuff like Wierd Al. At the time he was a single father to me and my little brother. We'd dance around the living room for half the night with my dad playing air guitar. Man I miss those days.  If I ever have kids I will not let them age without hearing plenty of 80's. AC/DC, Kansas, Queen (My all time favorite band).  Everytime I listen to 80's music now I think back to those days as a kid and dancing around in the living room. Me and my husband have a CD full of our 80's music and we've about run the thing out (LOL)

pink floyd, yazoo and so much more brings joy to me just thinking of the 80's. don't even forget the grandma of rock & roll " Tina Turner". one has to appreciate those years as we develop and become our own person, personality and with caracter.

I even listened to keep on smiling sung by wet willie in 1974 i was born in 72 and remembered it when downloading music....kind of remisant.....LOL

i find myself listening to music and be thinking of someone or an event in my life. ....

I'm glad you brought this up. I find it terribly difficult in listening to certain songs that are forever tied to someone I've lost, or even tied to particularly emotional times of my life. When I force myself to listen to them I dont get the little smile that I assume I am supposed to get, instead I cry and get become very somber which lasts all day.

These certain songs are a big part of my life, and I don't want to throw them away forever, but at the same time the strong emotional reaction I get is sometimes unbearable, and it's so difficult to listen to them. To this day Kimblee's "FADE" brings me to sobbing tears because it is the song that was so prevelant in mine and my dearly passed friend Scott's life.

I've tried to just listen to the certain songs regularly to work through the feelings, but it never seems to happen, I always get the grief arising in me.

Is this just me? Should I play them more in hopes that I will one day not have to cry to them? I know crying can be good, but I hate the feeling of loss tied to the songs.

Maybe I'm too sensitive.

How do these types of songs affect yall?

-Will

what we all do is we think of the worste case when listening to music, thinking of the bad memories but take those memories and think of the good times in your life that you had.

we tend to hover on the what if's but sometimes it is better to think of the most happier times in your life when listening to music that awakens your memories.

i lost my grandmother in 95 but the evening of her passing i was listening to a whiter shade of pale and now when i listen to it i think of the holidays i spent with her the beautiful ones that bring joy within me. it is not all that bad when you reflect on good memories, the bad is part of us but sometimes it is good to just let go of that which makes us sad.

   My thoughts ?

If you can NOT  feel sad then  you can NOT  feel   happy .

If a song does not bring on emotion  good or   bad     then I have no attachment and it is

    just noise !

I enjoy nothing better than a  Bottle of wine and a BLARRING  STERIO  :o

Oddly  enough Music MAY make me feel Melancholy   or  very sad !

BUT  BAD  memories ?      NOPE not  there ?????????
