I recently completed a UK Biosure test for HIV after a 3 month window period. I didn't initially have a risky encounter but wanted testing for peace of mind - foreplay with a female no intercourse

I tested waited 15 minutes as it states and I was very relieved to see that it had 1 line stating that it was negative. I checked multiple times and yep for sure it was 1 line negative - great, peace of mind I was very pleased.

However I chucked the test on the back seat of my car and a few hours later as I was disposing the test I don't know exactly but it looked as if there was a faint line (2 lines = positive). Bearing in mind my blood in the syringe had gone all over the inside of the tube as it was rolling around in the back of my car for a good couple of hours, I don't know if this was just a dried blood line or I am just looking waaaay too much into this. I will say that it was 200% 1 line = negative after the initial 15 minutes upon completion of the test as per instructions

Do you think I need to do another test or could possibly be infected? Really don't know what to do now!

Hiya,

Read your post, the result you have is negative BTW.

Leaving the test too long means the solution/buffer can interact and create a false line or shadowing/colouring. You are supposed to use the test, collect the result at the appropriate time and then throw it away!

Depends on did you have any exposures? Please be specific about the activities and when?

Here's what you need to know to avoid HIV infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions. Consider starting PrEP as an additional layer of HIV protection going forward

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

Sorry for not understanding but what do you mean by "Depends on did you have any exposures?" - The exposure I had is as per below but I am confused does this change my negative result I saw which was obviously clear at the time which was 1 line = negative. I tested earlier today and not had sexual intercourse in the last 3 months

I had masturbation foreplay in November 2019 - A lady pleasured my anus and penis with her hands till I ejaculated. I do not know anything about this unknown lady or her status

Am I conclusive negative?

No HIV risk whatsoever, her HIV status or how well you know her is irrelevant.
HIV is not an issue unless you have had other sexual encounters. Relax and move on with your life.

The result is negative, so you were HIV negative some 3 months ago. However, if you had more recent exposures that would be a transmission vector you could be testing within the window period, hence I asked.

You had no HIV exposure, no risk, no test required.
Not testing would have been conclusive already over this specific encounter. You tested anyway and the result was negative.

Hence, HIV is not an issue unless you have had other sexual encounters. Relax and move on with your life.
