Welcome to Do I Have HIV?

Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

Oraquick home testing accuracy

Hello everyone, I took the oraquick home testing HIV test at 6 weeks and at 3months post exposure (unprotected vaginal sex with unknown status), and when I was swabbing for specimen, I swabbed the top part and then I took the swab out of my mouth and proceeded to swab the bottom part of my mouth (I didn't touch the specimen collection area), Would this contribute to a false negative? The control line showed up and not the T line, saying its nonreactive. I called their customer service and they told me that the test was valid. I also had a canker sore on the left side of my tongue, and when it healed, it had a white color instead of the usual color. From all you described, and from my understanding of the Oraquick test, you have used the test correctly and at the correct testing window.

You are conclusively HIV negative.

Thank you for your response. I was worried because the vial kinda got shaken when i moved the testing kit from one location to another while waiting for the result. So as long as the control shows up, then the test was done correctly, and valid?

Yes, you are correct. The tests are made to be easily read and not easily compromised.
