Very anxious
« on: October 09, 2015, 07:06:24 pm »
I'll cut to the chase, in may I had oral sex with someone I know. we've never had anal just oral. about 30 days later I had canker sore in the back of my throat and I had oral sex with him again (first time he didn't cum, second time he did but little bit and i spitted it out right after) 6 weeks after that i did the oral hiv test and it came out negative ( it had been 5 years since my last test ) my questions are

How conclusive is my test?
I havent had any symptoms  except a couple small canker sores. (one right after the other, but im not sure if it's because i've been stressed at work)
how accurate were my results since it had been 6 weeks and 9 weeks since my incidents. would the canker sore make it more risky?.

sorry if im asking an old questions but i've recently read of a celebrity (danny pintauro)  who got it from oral sex as he claims so im very anxious

please calm my fears or tell me if they have merit.

Danny Pintauro publicist may have told him to say he got infected from oral but that does not make it true.

You can read about testing and window periods here http://www.aidsmeds.com/articles/HIVtests_5029.shtml

There have been no fewer than three separate serodiscordant couples studies (where one person is HIV positive, the other negative.) These couples were tracked for three. five and ten years. The couples used condoms for penetrative vaginal and anal sex, but NO BARRIER at all for oral sex. Any kind of oral sex. These studies yielded NO infections.
Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI.Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Although you did not have a risk and do not need to test for this specific incident , anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

No … the theoretical risk for oral would require a signifiant open wound and even then the risk for oral transmission have only been documented a hand full of times on 30 years and most all of those cases had other significant risk factors such as IV drug use or unprotected anal and vaginal sex.

You can test if you want but it will be negative if this is you’re only concern . A negative 6 week test past any possible exposure rarely ever changes so that is further evidence to support the fact that you did not have a risk and do not have HIV . You tested conclusively HIV negative.
