very stressed out please reply with the possible scenerio
« on: September 09, 2007, 12:03:00 pm »
i met this girl who i knew just few hours back with my business associates. she has a family . i had a very small blister on back of my tongue ad we kissed for some time no tongue to tongue contact only just lips with wet kissing . this was done just 5 to 15 minutes of kissing. i went back to my home and i checked my mouth and i could only see the small blister with little red no blood ozzing out . but now that night i had little chaped lips so possiblity of little blood dont know for sure . but when i came back home i turned my lips and very little blood came out . i spoke to the women after wards she said that she had hepatitis c and it cannot be transmitted this way . she said that she is hiv negative she has two healty kids and husband who dont have hepatitis c .

my question is what are the chances if she has hiv can i get it though this contact. i am very stressed out and going mad thinking again and again.
Also what are the chances of getting hiv through french kissing with both parties have bleeding. what does the statistics show.

i have spoken to some doctors and they say that the blood has to be rubbed into the blood vessel is this true .

hok,

Kissing, no matter what sort of spin you want to put on it and regardless of having a blister on your tongue, is NOT a risk for hiv infection. Not only is saliva NOT infectious, but it also contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect. Kissing is NOT a risk. Never has been, never will be and you will NOT be the first to become infected with hiv- or hep c - in this manner.

Kissing is also NOT a risk for hep C infection.

You did not have a risk.

Along with reading our Welcome Thread and following the link to the Transmission Lesson, here's what else you need to know:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex with a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Although you DO NOT need to test over this specific incident, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

hi guys thanks for the response i had a test 4 weeks back and all my test came back negative excepting herpes 1 . my question about the kissing with the woman with a blister in my mouth two weeks back   should i again test my self . i am noty sexually active . i am into just kissing nothing more than that . what do you think with my current two week scenerio are my chances of getting  hiv. suppose for scenerio that she was positive and she had a cut with blood do you think it is possible for me to get hiv though open mouth kissing with me having a blister .

i know this sounds pretty stupid but i was reading on your forum that hiv has to be in a receptive enviroment to be contracted. now what are chances of mouth being a receptive enviroment with open sore. please if you can explain me in detail i will really appretiate it

thankyou

Hokies,

We've already told you that there was no risk. Kissing, even if you have a blister in your mouth, is NOT a risk. The mouth is a very, very hostile environment and hiv is a very fragile virus.

Saliva is not infectious. Hiv does not remain intact and undamaged in saliva. You did not have a risk.

As long as you have not had unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse, you are still hiv negative and you do not need further testing at this time. You ARE hiv negative.

Hok,

Symptoms, or even the lack of symptoms, means nothing when it comes to hiv. We do not discuss symptoms on this forum.

Whatever is causing your rash, it won't be hiv. Kissing is NOT a risk for hiv. Show your rash to a doctor. We cannot diagnose you here.

Hokies,

The CDC is an agency of the US government and so advances the ultra-conservative, anti-sex agenda that seems to prevail there these days. You'll note that our Lesson points out that the "CDC says", that doesn't mean we endorse or agree with that assessment.

I'm from Australia and here the health authorities state clearly that kissing does not transmit HIV. Ann has already told you that and I'm telling you that again.

Now I'm not America bashing here, but frankly Australia has a much better record when it comes to HIV prevention than the US. You'd do well to ignore the CDC and listen to the truth from Down Under.

Regards,

MtD

Hokies,

The presence of a blister makes no difference. HIV cannot be transmitted via kissing.

One other thing, do not send myself or other experts PM's requesting our attention to your thread in in this forum. We know that you've posted and if we decide to respond it will be when we're good and ready, not to suit you.

I am not here to serve your every whim and desire and you would do well to remember that.

You're just going to hear more of the same from me as the others have told you. There are times when I would like to wring the neck and other body parts of those at the CDC who authorize putting out such idiotic stuff such as kissing being a risk for HIV transmission.

That's totally in the strictly theoretical category as are many activities. In the real world of HIV science transmission simply doesn't happen that way no matter what nicks, blisters, sores and such either or both parties have in their mouths.

Other STDs can be passed by skin to skin and kissing, but NOT HIV.

Really.

Take a breath, let go of this and move on with your life is my recommendation.
