Title: Movie-Inception :)
Post by: Merlin on July 17, 2010, 02:49:42 pm
Just caught the movie, INCEPTION. Mind blowing brilliant !!! :o
Been a long time since I've watched such an amazing concept movie. Don't blink, go to the restroom or chat during the movie. Every moment literally connects to an ascending climax. Incredible. Go watch it if you can. No regrets!  ;)

PS: Good if one is smarter than a 5th Grader-it really helps! :D :-* ;D

Yeah the concept of this movie made me interested in seeing it.  However as Leonardo DiCaprio gets older I'm enjoying his performances a lot more and Ellen Page can do no wrong.  (If you've never seen "Hard Candy" go out right now and rent it)

Wow, it took in $60.2 m over the weekend to be Number 1 at the box office. Didn't know it cost $200m to make but based on its strong audience interest, it should have no problems surpassing that figure domestically. :)

I'm heading out to see it right now ---
Full review (Roger Ebert style) when I get back. ;D

Just got back from seeing this a little bit ago -
Theater was packed and it was showing on three screens - so they are definitely making the money.
I would give it a "B"
The concept is great.  It can get difficult to follow - and it is a long movie, so get the bathroom breaks in ahead of time (which can be hard for some of us pos people to do - lol)
I would have preferred to have seen it at home on DVD, so I could pause and discuss at certain points, as the person I was with was having a difficult time understanding it - the dreams, within dreams, within dreams.
That said, definitely a movie to see.

That's why I said it helps if one were smarter than a 5th grader..kidding!  :D

Also, I did wonder how it would translate on DVD or Blu Ray. It will definitely help with catching up on lost concepts by rewinding, but all those amazing special effects would have had been lost without the magnitude of the big screen.  I give it an A+ for mind blowing ;)

I probably would lose on the smarter than a 5th grader show  LOL
I agree that the special effects look great on big screen -
It was just some of the ideas they presented in dialogue explaining what they were going to do that would have been better if I could have paused it, rewound it, and better digested it.
The person I was with got lost real quick into it (another loser on smarter than 5th grader) - and I couldn't take time to explain because I didn't want to get lost myself...
It was good though - I will see it again when it comes on DVD so I can get a better handle on it in terms of overall story/concept and technical aspects of what they were doing.

Me and my partner saw some people leaving the theatre a quarter into the movie and did not return.
Think they blew a mind fuse.  :o :D ;)

Dun think I ever kept such an intense focus for any movie non stop before, barring the minor disruptions from the leaving audience. Luckily I kept at it. Honestly, it was pretty intense and mentally exhausting but all in all, a great mind workout. :)

Screw this.  It's all lesbian comedy (http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/focus_features/thekidsareallright/) for me this week, and the trailer looks great.

That one has been getting a lotta buzz for a little while.  The "experts" say it is REALLY good.  The fact that Julianne Moore is in it certifies its quality.

I'm sure you'll go to see Mark Ruffalo's chest hair which feature prominently in the linked trailer. I think I'm going to see it on Friday which is when it opens here finally.

Hmmmm... nice  ;D

It doesn't open down in Little Cuba till next month (and they'll probably show it only at the over-crowded theater in Miami Beach).  Maybe I can catch next week when I stay in Fag Lauderdale (it's showing somewhere in Boca).

Rev Moon - you are down here in S. Florida right?  I'm in North Miami -- I actually saw it (Inception) up at Aventura Mall - just up the road from me.

Yessum, Phillers.  I'm in Miami.  But I was referring to the movie that Philly was recommneding (The Kids Are All Right).  They are showing Inception all over Dade county and I plan to see it this weekend when I get back home.  I have a bunch of movie theatre GC's that I need to use before they expire, so the next few weekends will be filled with flicks (Salt with Freakgelina looks pretty cool too).

Wonder if Inception will exceed Twilight's box office takings? $143m in 10 days so far-pretty amazing!  ;)

You know half of that box office is people going back a second time to try to figure out what they saw the first time through.

I have to go see this flick soon.

On a side note:  one of my dreams last night had the Obamas and the Clintons here at my house for dinner.  We were sitting around chatting like old friends and then Bill Clinton got up and asked me where the scotch was.  CRAZY I know but it was another Atripla induced dream.  In the dream I got him some scotch and he most graciously said thank you.

I do want to go see Inception.   I will even go to the theatre solo if I cant get a buddy to join me.

That should speak well of a movie that can make someone pay double.  ;)
First was 3D, now it's double take. There's a future after all in movies these days.  :D ;D :)

*cough* ... and it currently has the current best per-theater average (http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2010/07/26/how-the-kids-are-all-right-is-winning-over-summer-movie-goers/).

You got that right.... I definitely have to see it when it comes on dvd so I can pause it to make sense of some of the stuff that I diidn't get the first time around.... it was definitely one of those brain intense movies --- like the Matrix on steroids....

Eat your hearts out, ladies -- tomorrow I'm going to see Inception at one of the few IMAX "dome theaters" in existence (180-degrees and tilted at 30 degrees, 5 stories tall, and 50 speakers) at the Franklin Institute (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin_Institute).  I had no idea it was even playing there, as I've seen no advertising for it.  I was about to go to one of the "regular" IMAX screens at a shopping mall when someone told me about it at Franklin, which is only 3 subways stops from me.

I saw the last Star Trek there (usually they only show science IMAX films) and I actually got nauseas for the first five minutes.

Will your bifocals be ready by then?  I thought you had just ordered them (and some fabulous brand that I can't remember for the life of me nonetheless).  You may get a headache.

Oh, that's a ways off I'm sure.  I've not even been to the optometrist yet.  In fact, I've not been to one in a decade.  But it now takes longer to focus things, and when I read a book it's got to be at an exact distance.

I'll take a jaunt up to NYC for frames though... exciting!  Always wanted glasses from Sol Moscot.

I am actually jealous of this.  This movie has been my favorite of the last couple of years.  I kinda saw where it was going, but still was intrigued by how it all played out.  I think you'll enjoy it and I'm actually tempted to go back and see it in the theater again (this is something I've only done once or twice as most movies aren't worth a second theater viewing)

It's available on the Torrents !
My partner downloaded this movie yesterday in full HD. I was blasted away by the sound and special effects. At the end I was left with the feeling that I missed something.

Hmm...so care to share the torrent address then?  ???

I doubt current movies are ever in HD/DVD/BR , especially for blockbuster like Inception, until say maybe 1-2 months after cinematic box office. The current best copy torrent is in TS Xvid at most. There's not even a DVDScR version out yet. But, if you say so, would love to check out your torrent.  ;)

1) I am in love with Tom Hardy (http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af197/bedstuy65/tom-hardy-03.jpg)

2) Nothing beats an IMAX dome theater.  IMAX "clones" in shopping centers are a pale imitation and shouldn't even be branded that way.

3) The movie was good, but I wouldn't call it exceptional.

4) The Kids Are All Right was still better movie making.

5) I am in love with Tom Hardy (http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af197/bedstuy65/tom-hardy-03.jpg)

I don't recall that conversation, but I probably simply forgot about it.

Tom has that rough look, but then at the same time has what I affectionately call "pussy lips".  Plus you know I like prison tattoos on my boys.

I just had a thought (rare - but it does happen on occasion) -
I wonder if the writers of Inception are on Atripla?
