First Cabenuva injection

I just received my first Cabenuva injection this morning.Honestly I'm a little sore( because the injection is given on the side of both glutes). I was actually surprised at the fact that the injection itself really wasn't that bad. When I started taking the oral lead-in my viral load did jump to 40( Im usually under 20). I was worried about this at first but then I remembered that anything under 50 is still undetectable. I have follow up labs and my second injection next month. I'll keep you guys updated.

Yeah getting shots in the glutes always is a little sore but hope not too much. 

It would be nice to get to doing something only once a month and not daily but a pill isn't too bad (for now).  I take enough others that is isn't too abnormal. 

Just hope you have good results with it.

Hello everyone. I wanted to give another update on my experience with Cabenuva. My last injection was 12/7/21. My viral load is still undetectable( under 20). My next dose will be on 1/9/23. As far as side affects I've experienced a mild rash( without a fever) and bad injection site pain. What helps with the pain is using an ice pack, taking it easy( especially during the first few days) and ibuprofen. I hope this helps anyone considering staring this treatment. So far I like it, although it's kinda of weird not having to take pills anymore.

considering cabana also,, although taking 6-12 days off work a year to get a shot at a office, in addition to the other medical things (dentist,PMD, etc.) is not very appealing...

people who are actually on cabenuva for awhile now,, in reality how's the logistics of using this medicine as opposed to the Ince a day regimen most of us are on?

I've been on Cabenuva for a year now.  I highly recommend it.  Couple things though, I get persistent lower back pain for 4 or 5 weeks following getting the shots.  Not sure why it happens.  My guess is having a foreign substance sitting in my muscle is a contributing factor.  Also, in the beginning Iwould get flu like symptoms for 36 hours after getting the shot and it had a lot of pain at the injection site.  That is not an issue anymore though.  Other than those things though I have no other side effects.

The best part of Cabenuva is that by the third injection you transition to bi monthly shots.  That by far makes Cabenuva a game changer.

In response to the logistics of getting the shot.. since the medication is so new, the office where I go was a little ill prepared in terms of actually getting the medication so it would be available to give to me on the day of my scheduled appointment.  That's more of a specific issue that has more to do with the medical office I go to and I don't think that issue is wide spread. 

Basically I schedule out the injection for 6 months. This makes it easier to fit it into my personal schedule.  The appointment itself is very short.  I'm there for maybe 20 minutes from the time I get there to the time I'm walking out the door. 

One problem I had back in December was I showed up for my appointment and they failed to have it on hand and ready for me.  I was going away after that and wasn't able to get back to my doctor's office for about 3 weeks. Because of this they put me on the pill form of the medication until I was able to get the shot.   Because I had missed the shot they had to schedule a second loading dose 4 weeks after that.  It was after that second dose that they transitioned me back to bi-monthly injections.

I am having the same lower back/sciatica pain 3-5 days after the injection on the rilpivirine side, lasting 3-4 weeks. I wonder if you were able to find a solution to this problem? I am considering going back to pills unfortunately at this point.
