In need of creative excuses

Today I went on my first OFFICIAL job interview since I came to Florida.  It is a sadly paying job by my standards, yet for the cost of living in Ft. Lauderdale it is mediocre.

As some of you may know, I've been battling pus-filled abscess/Cyst thingies for a brief while now.  The latest one over which I've triumphed is beneath my lower lip.  It is finally draining clear fluid (a good sign) although it is still somewhat swollen.  So, I'm very self-conscious of it, and during my interview, I suddenly felt the need to tell my interviewer that I bumped my lip while swimming in the ocean yesterday with my hand.

Thank god the shingles on my eyelid were gone and the skin was no longer red.

Anyone else have any experiences like this?

Joseph, I would just urge you to keep things simple. (ALWAYS)

What you are concerned about may be no biggie for an interviewer. So if you say anything, just keep it simple.

As for the cysts and such, personally I recommend putting lots of hot soaks on them. I've been plagued by that kind of thing forever. My dermatologist gives me kudos for how good I have become at treating them. If I spot or sense one is developing I put some bacitracin or neosporin on the area to keep it clean and soaks, lots of warm soaks.

Good luck with the job hunting. Make sure you include some fun in your day while you're doing the search.

I also live in Florida and know the payscale here is LOW to say the least and the cost of living is HIGH. I work as an RN in Tampa, but my northeren and west coast friends make much more. As for the cost of housing down here, I don't know where or when the prices for rent/buying will level off.  I just keep moving forward. As for your issue. If they don't ask, don't tell. If they do ask, keep it simple.

I began a new job today.  I work in a bathhouse. LOL

Of all the places I would ever expect to end up.

Actually, the irony is that I worked for the same people but long ago when I lived in NYC.  And, today, after my long shift, my cyst decided to weep itself clean.  Perhaps the exercise and manual labor was what did the trick.  That'll learn me to take jobs where I sit on my ass all day.

Anyway, I got a call back from a hotel up the coast a little way, and they're willing to pay me $12-15 depending on my experience... but it would be the third shift.  Perhaps I should do it for the benefits, and do my current job part time (when I accepted the bathhouse job, I committed to working part time only but was planning on working it full time until I found a job I wanted)  I remember how taxing it was to work overnights, and dunno if it's something I'm willing to do again.  The last time I did it, my health suffered greatly.

At least my cyst/abscess thingy is gone.  YAY!
