IE7, funny fonts and all that . . .
« on: October 31, 2006, 11:52:05 am »
You upgraded?....oh, well...

Be default, IE7 turns on a Windows feature called ClearType font rendering for web pages. Most people, especially those with LCD screens, will notice a difference - either improvement or not according to their screen/eyes.

To turn it off: in IE7's menu select Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Multimedia subhead > uncheck the box next to True Type for HTML.

Turning on clear type will help in viewing the screens of those that have LCD. I removed IE-7 and went back to IE -6 , I think they released it much too early, and has too many bugs. As one can tell by the IE -7 discussion group :

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general&cat=en_us_28cca3eb-7037-4d4f-bde1-d8efee1f1420&lang=en&cr=us

Microsoft is scrambling to get some repairs made, and there is already two security issues with IE 7

I am holding off for a while longer....

Hi Ray you sure are gettin' good with computers!

 ;)

I received the update for Internet Explorer 7 just a few minutes ago, I declined it. When I turned the computer on this morning,. I decided, to be "notified" before any updates are installed.( instead of having them automatically installed) I just don't trust IE 7 enough yet. Hate being a guinea pig. >:(

It downloaded on my computer. Just not as computer savvy as I once  was and should have declined the update. We have an LCD monitor and for myself I don't mind the fonts but could be I'm not seeing something. I'll have Jeffrey look it over later. I just don't like the layout and the tab feature. My sister uses Firefox and our DC friend prefers Netscape so maybe we'll look around.

I like the new fonts and the tabbing.. a bit to get used to going from 'bottom' to 'top' for the tabs (no comments there please) but overall, I like it and has ran smoothly on my puter

I'm beginning to like it just going to take some time.  Don't understand this phishing filter and yesterday couldn't find the secured site lock but finally found it.
