Title: Kaletra - meal size for absorption
Post by: LordBerners on September 27, 2013, 05:32:28 pm
My twice daily doses of Kaletra are supposed to be taken with a meal.  Dose one I take with lunch so no problem there, but the other one is with my midnight snack (I don't like to do breakfast/dinner dose times as I often sleep very late on days off).

I'm trying to eat a bit lighter and healthier, so I'm switching to a midnight snack of say ten ounces of unsweetened full-fat yogurt and some cashews or pistachios (say a quarter cup).  Is this enough of a 'meal' to allow for a desirable absorption of the Kaletra?

The new hard tablets do not need food, strictly speaking. It may help settle the stomach though (cos of the ritonavir).

Thanks newt, that's news to me!  Great news really, I'd been placing a lot of importance on the absorption issue.
