A matter of import about Thom
« on: August 09, 2010, 12:29:17 am »
Willywump just informed me that during the AM gathering in Vegas Thom (of Thom and Ric) has gone to the ER and they're really unsure of the circumstances, so I'm passing the word along and I'm sure he'd like any prayers or well wishing.

Thom, hoping all is well. You are in my thoughts.

Trey, you may want to change the thread title to include Thoms name?

Everyone,

We are not sure what happened but I was in the group of three that was with Thom when he suffered an apparent seizure.  He was very quickly seen by emergency personnel and taken by ambulance with us to a local hospital.  Because none of us are immediate family members, we were not permitted to be updated about his status.  His sister has been contacted by us and by hospital personnel and hopefully she will consent to giving us information about his status.  When I left him in the ER this evening, he was not conscious but he seemed to have stabilized.  I can say that he told us (in fact minutes before this episode) that this trip had been very healing for him.  I know it will comfort him to know that we are thinking, praying (those of us that do) and sending positive energy his way.  I am remaining in Las Vegas through Wednesday and if able will try to get more information.

There was a previous thread about Thom having a seizure (in February 2010 when Ric passed). I wonder what condition Thom has?

I wish him the best, at least he's around people who love and care for him.

Carl and i went up to see Thom before I headed off to the airport this morning, he is fine but still a little confused, he has been having fluids and had a bit of a temperature but was on the way down when we saw him.

He had an EEG done this morning, but until they have the results of that we won't know what is going on or when he will be able to leave, but according the the charge nurse I spoke to it should be in a couple of days.

His sister will be travelling to Vegas to take him home to Virginia, I will be keeping in touch with her via email as soon as I get to the UK.

I'm ready to board now so will catch up with you all soon.

Hugs
Jan :-*

What a great picture, Will! This must have been minutes before the episode and minutes before or after we saw you all at Ceasar's. God bless you all for taking care of him and going to hospital with him...not that you wouldn't have, but stilll...I don't know what to say, except you are wonderful!

Thanks for all of the updates.  I hope everything sorts itself out with Thom quickly.  Must be very disorienting thing to happen to oneself on a trip like this.

I also saw Thom today (Tuesday) and spoke with both his doctor and his sister.  They were getting ready to do a spinal tap and they are beginning to investigate the possibility that Thom is dealing with epilepsy.  He is still confused, though resting comfortably, and receiving very good nursing and medical care.  He smiled when I mentioned he was "quite the subject" on the forums now and that many people around the world were sending their love.

Heading home tomorrow.
