Educating my family.
« on: May 19, 2019, 06:46:49 am »
Hi,
Today my all sisters were at my home and we were discussing about some diseases. (They do not know about my condition neither my parents) so in the discussion I mentioned there is hardly any disease left which can not managed by medicines. But thn my elder sister said, ''AIDS is there", I thought this is the best time to educate them as in India, families hardly talk about HIV. So I told them about the available treatment and however that treatment is not cure but it's just like one. A patient can have his complete life using these medicines. And I started giving how diabetes and other diseases are even bad and need constant medication. But my family was adamant. But for a surprise my father informed us about his views. Which made me happy. He stated that though it is lethal disease but with advanced medicines we may expect a cure in coming future. And in last after 30 min of discussion. My family changed their perception and started talking positive about it.
I was filled with emotions though I didn't have courage to blast the news. But this was my very small try to educate them regarding THE condition. I wish, when they will come to know that they will accept me with open arms.
Just venting out here.

Sounds great. At least with that discussion you have implemented into them some level of understanding about the condition. If you told them they will surely have a different perspective.
