Title: "Ring of Fire" Solar Eclipse
Post by: Miss Philicia on May 17, 2012, 07:57:09 am
Evidently there hasn't been a solar eclipse of this type in 20 years (http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/first-ring-of-fire-eclipse-visible-in-us-in-nearly-20-years-also-can-be-seen-in-e-asia/2012/05/17/gIQAvQMPVU_story.html?tid=pm_pop) for the continental US. So on Monday if you live in the areas listed (which unfortunately I do not) you should see something very special:

I remember the last one ... I was living in Chicago working at the mart . We all went outside by the Chicago river and watched , it seemed like the whole city did the same and it was a party like atmosphere that afternoon . Twenty years , wow time flies .

I saw one when I was in Santo Domingo in 1998 -- it happened mere hours after we checked into our hotel, and we had no idea that this was going to happen when we arrived so it was a great surprise and beginning to the trip.

I saw the title " Ring of fire"  and thought this thread was about hemorrhoids.

The Santo Domingo eclipse of 98 was nothing like the Chicago eclipse of 94 we witnessed , critics said the Santo Domingo one had bandaids on it it was so sickly .

Whatever girl -- that same night I discovered "The Penthouse" where I could line local boys up at the urinals and inspect the meat packaging before making my $25 selection. It was like being at the best candy store where all of the twizzlers were uncut and huge.

I've been waiting for this one, which will swing through Kentucky and will be where the total eclipse is located  in 2017.  I'm suppose to look right at it with no eye protection, right?
