But I do know what you mean. Here in SC it's been hotter than hades since April, and the main portion of our house remodel is nearly finished. Carl, does this mean you're completely done with your sister's house? That has to be a huge relief. I know how it's played havoc with you. Now, float around the pool with an ice cold beer and relax for a change.

Mikie, your renovation project looks awesome. Where do we get the fortitude?

I was happy as could be yesterday. Even with my gimpy leg, I managed to finish the laundry room and get the washer and dryer installed. Was too tired to start laundry last night but already have 2 loads completed this morning. I haven't done a load in about 6 weeks so I definitely have a backlog.

I did go buy new clothes to make sure I had enough to get by.

And I'm still waiting for my on-line orders to arrive. First time ordering shoes via the internet so I guess I'll discover if it's a good way to shop.

I'm still having swelling in my right foot, ankles, and lower leg. I'm not so sure it's a torn tendon, but what do I know. I know it's painful, but I've been putting heat and ice on it. I will be making an appointment with my doctor tomorrow for something else, and if it's not better, will have him check it out. Or I'll make an appointment with my orthopedist.

Ugh, why do we have to get fragile and brittle?

I'm having an MRI done on my knee this morning. I tried having one last week but she put my leg in such a position that holding it still for 30 minutes was impossible. I even told her so before we started the procedure. It throbbed so bad and my foot was totally numb after 15 minutes. So today I'm order to take a pain pill before the procedure which will probably put me right to sleep.

He think I have a acl injury to my ligament. I'm beginning to think it'll heal before I ever get the results though. I'm finally gimping around with crutches. The knee is horribly swollen still but I see constant improvements.

My maternal grandmother who turned 96 2 days ago isn't as frail as I am. I figure my bones will be all powder if I live that long.

Hey Gang,

Well, i am still waiting for the state to decide whether I will be given an exception and allowed to access assistance for my med copays.

So far, I have had to pay the new copays for two months. I thought I would only have to pay one, but that didn't work out.

On the plus side, at least I had the $800 to cover the costs. On the minus side, that was my vacation money.

I know, there are worse things on the planet. But I was looking forward to a getaway.

I hope to hear something soon. I may have to change pharmacies, using a mail-order rather than a local pharmacy.

I don't like that idea, but I may have no choice right now. I prefer local pharmacies.

We'll see.

Greg, I can't remember who (either Ms P or Jeff) came up with the idea, not long ago, of having a nursing facility built just for those of us who are suffering from LTS'er effects. and now it doesn't seem like such a bad idea lol. You and I need to get together some day and try to keep each other balanced.

Mark, what the hell is taking so long? Does the state usually move that slowly? Doesn't seem right, not at all. You need a vacation when doing case management, it's vital. That's horrible and I hope they find in your favor soon.

I'm up very early. For the past 3 days I have not been able to access my e-mail. Comcast fuck-up. I'm still waiting for them to fix it so I can once again get my e-mails. I'm sure by the time they fix it, I will have over 1000 e-mails. I always have at least 50 if I don't check it for like 4 or 5 hours, so I can't imagine 3 days (plus today makes 4). I was on the phone with Comcast for about 45 minutes yesterday, for about the thousandth time in 3 days, with the tech trying different things to get it going, but to no avail. So, we'll see what today holds. The tech said he would call me later this afternoon, which means I'll have to call them.

I bought these socks at CVS that are supposed to help with tired, achy feet, swelling, and varicose veins. Well, I wore them for about 5 hours, and wow, when I took them off they were extremely tight and I could hardly get them off. They kept my right ankle/foot swelling down, but they caused such imprints on my legs I question whether I should continue wearing them or not. I also bought this thing that's supposed to be an ankle support, and that ended up hurting after a couple hours.

In other news, still getting settled. I opened up an account at a local credit union. When I changed the routing and account numbers on SS's website, for direct deposit, the website said it would not take effect until September, so I guess it's too late for August's check. I will just go there on the 1st and close my account.

Also have been discovering various local farms with markets that make all sorts of good things, like peach salsa, and pineapple salsa, cakes and pies, fudge, peanut butter, all made right at their locations. It's been fun. Today I'm going to the farmer's market in South Bend (IN) to try to get some local peaches. Though a lady at the one farm market I've visited a couple times, told me there's going to be very few due to the extended period of cold last winter. Sweet corn is available now, though, so I will get some of that.

Ok, this is becoming a book. I'm going to see my bone doctor's nurse practitioner Thursday, for some "healthy bone" appointment. I was supposed to see an ENT doctor to figure out what's going on with my parathyroid, but didn't make it due to losing the appointment sheet while moving, thus not knowing when the appointment was. Ugh.

Damn Mark, I certainly hope they make this happen soon. I absolutely feel for you. I guess I'm fortunate that I've not had major issues with mail order prescriptions.

I also just read another thread where Michael is in the hospital with a broken foot. I still have a nagging fear that continued weakened bones will be our ongoing bane.

@ Mark, I can't imagine anything that will keep Betty and me down.

@ Betty, it would be too funny to watch all of us LTS in a nursing facility. Most would need to be locked in their rooms lest we wonder. lol I didn't manage to get a garden in this year so I'm also relying on farm stands for my local produce and such. We're lucky to be in the heart of farmland country where all the local farmers have their own stands. They're pretty much everywhere. One near by farmer just rented an empty lot about 75 yards from me to have a produce stand. So awesome that I can have a fresh salad anytime I like simply by hobbling for a few moments.

On another note, my home is progressing so quickly. I've pretty much got everything arranged. Haven't done any decorating until I decide if I'm content with the basic layout. I'm having difficulty with the living room. It's actually too large and doesn't lend itself to traditional decorating standards. It measures 24' by 22'.

I broke down and ordered a composite tv stand that arrived yesterday. I hadn't purchased anything but solid wood furniture for years. I did it because of cost but it actually is quite nice and looks like real wood. They've made great improvements through the years. Now, I'll have to buy a large tv. My little one looks strange sitting on this stand.

This strapping man was even nicer looking in person. I did some sleuthing though and he's actually only three years younger than I am, or 46. Amazing. Methinks he's had some nip&tuck or just blessed with good genes. Didn't look a year over 36. Anyway, for any of you in need of a colorectal specialist in the Greater Philadelphia metro area he comes highly recommended -- very centrally located a few blocks north of City Hall on the Broad Street subway, or a short walk from Suburban Station for regional rail users, or right off Vine St Expressway if driving. Plus the office is directly across from Hahnemann Hospital which is where he does any surgical stuff.

In other news, in his view high-resolution anoscopies are not needed and actually can lead to over-treatment of anal dysplasia, meaning a regular anoscopy suffices to detect something high-grade and in need of further treatment ie. infrared coagulation. So in the end my anal inspection was quickly done in 3-5 minutes, after which Dr. David pronounced my sphincter to be "incredibly boring". But he still wants to see me annually, along with colonoscopies every five years due to my last one showing benign polyps.

So, in short, for those of you who have foregone having this done because you could not locate someone doing high-resolution procedures you should just go to a colorectal specialist and have a normal one done.

Not the same I know but I have to have a colonoscopy next week and I am dreading it . No food or drink after midnight the night before and the test isn't until 2:30 the next day .

Maybe it has to do with different areas of the country, but doctors here say a person can drink clear liquids while preparing for a colonoscopy. Otherwise there's a high risk for dehydration. Plus, in your case, crashing blood sugar.

Jeff, I think many doctors are changing the orders, allowing clear liquids to be consumed. I was allowed to drink as much water as I wanted.

I go get my results of my MRI today at 2:00. Just so hoping it's not awful news. Other than that, am absolutely enjoying this fabulous weather. Way below normal for a while.

Now onward to next week's neurologist appointment and another podiatrist one (never-ending) followed by an HIV doctor visit. Oh, and I've finally scheduled a dermatologist appointment but they had no openings until late September. Plus it's in the same building as Hunky Rectal Dave so a mere 10 minute subway ride away, no transfers.

ps: I'm quite sure I was allowed liquids during my colonoscopy prep two years ago -- but it had to be certain things like broth. I think I could even eat jello as long as it was not red.

Seriously girl? You must not have read a single "medical" post of mine in the past 3 years.

Short story -- I think it began after the year I saw you. Wasn't sure what it was because it progressed slowly. Ended up having 3 foot surgeries from '11-'13 while simultaneously developing extremely bad neuropathy along with sciatica, the latter likely related to the lipoatrophy in my buttocks and thighs. But it's in the last year that the nerve stuff has kicked into super-high gear and am seeing a new neurologist to sort out any treatment. Anyway my pain issues are constant and I am kind of screwed for life now, I guess.

I have an appointment with the doctor next week.

I was wondering if others make a list to tell the doc. If I don't, I forget to ask.

A couple of my humps and lumps are returning. Not as bad as they were in the past, but they are there and I can feel them.
This is basically and FYI for the doctor, since there is nothing to do about them.
No, I am not going under the knife again, at least, not yet.

Then there are the usual issues:

Neuropathy in my feet and lower legs - pretty much the same as usual.

Elevated CPKs and corresponding muscle aches - pretty much the same.

A couple of new things:

Plantar fasciiaitis, or however its spelled. This is no fun at all. I am relegated to one pair of shoes that give the support and comfort to allow me to keep walking.

Most of the rest of the shoes are destined for the trash bin. Not a bad thing. I have too many shoes.

Hmmm, not bad, really. Considering hoe long I have lived with the bug, and someone who took some of the old meds with their peculiarities, and someone who has managed to get as old as I am, I really haven't much to complain about.

So, I was going to try to move everything (Medicaid, license, car insurance etc.) to Michigan. However, after talking to people yesterday, I'm keeping everything in Indiana. I applied to Medicaid, but am going to withdraw the application. I talked to the insurance rep here for the auto, and it would cost $50 more a month in Michigan for just the basic (PLPD) insurance, compared to $50 cheaper in Indiana for full coverage. Michigan is a no fault state,and people pay a high price for that.

When talking to the Part D carrier, once I told them I moved to Michigan, they told me I would "need to do a new application." Well, I am in no mood right now to go through all that, especially since I get the extra help, which I believe is due to having Medicaid (though it is the Medicaid I pay for since I am employed part time). Also, the Medicaid pays the premiums for Medicare, and switching over is always such a hassle when dealing with this issue. I can't remember how long it took to kick in when I moved to Indiana the last time, since I was pretty strung out.

So, I am using the ASO's address in South Bend for my insurances, have to change the address for SS back to South Bend before they start hassling me over having Michigan Medicaid to pay the premiums, and am going to withdraw my app for Michigan Medicaid. They will tell me I have to cancel my Medicaid in Indiana prior to them approving the app anyway. Come the end of October, when it will be time to renew all the insurances, I may then think about switching everything to Michigan.

Mark, have you tried daily stretching exercises used in physical therapy for plantar fasciitis issues.

And yes, I write lists now for the doctor -- but only in the past year have I begun doing so. There were just too many things going on with my body. However I'll probably wing it for my neurology follow-up on Tuesday and my HIV doctor the following week. I do the notes on my computer and then sync them with my smartphone.

ps: dreadful sleep last night due to taking Mucinex -- it's always like meth to me for the first couple of days dosing. I even woke at 3am and took two ambien and still got up at 6:30am.

Looks like it's time to finally turn the air back on but I won't complain. It has been beyond beautiful weather that we've never experienced in July that I recall.

Other than that, just waiting patiently for my upcoming surgery. 5 days and counting down. The timing really sucks though. Every year, I facilitate an awesome Indy party. It's an all afternoon event with plenty of food, entertainment and prizes. I'll be sipping water while everyone else will be enjoying free booze.

I raised enough money so far this season that we're giving away a couple of tvs and a laptop in addition to several smaller items. My events always bring great revenue to the post. Who better to throw an awesome party than the middle aged gay man and his hoard of hags. lol Actually, most of the male members adore me as I entertain their "ole ladies" while they enjoy their war stories.
