Menstruation...
« on: August 29, 2007, 05:53:39 pm »
Hi everybody,
I am 27 year old guy who made bad things in thailand. 2 months ago I met with a sex worker and we made sex. When I went to bathroom for pulling off the condom I realised that there is blood on the condom. The lights were off while we were having sex so I couldn't realised that she was having her period. When I came back to bedroom there was blood on the bed too. I didn't care so much because I used a condom but the next day I remembered that I rolled down the condom one time. Thai girls have narrow vaginas so my condom rolled 5 or 7 cms up. Still head were protected. I regularly check out this site. According to the people here it is not a risk for HIV. I talked one of my friend who is a doctor and he told me that I am under risk. I was afraid. He told me that there is a chance for blood to diffuse between condom and my skin. When I was rolling down the condom blood can touch the head of penis. Is he right? Its been 2 months after this incident and the last 2 weeks I had some pain on my left kidney and I have burning sensation when I was pissing. Can somebody help me?

duran,

Just because someone is a doctor doesn't mean they know anything about hiv transmission or infection.

Condoms have been proven to prevent hiv transmission, even when there is blood present. The head of your penis was covered, so you don't need to worry. You didn't have a risk.

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex with a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Although you do NOT need to test over this specific incident, Anyone who is sexually active should be having a afull sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Keep using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Ann, thank you for your reply,
I want to ask you ask you a  question! It is not the same as the what if questions you talk abou on this site. What happens if my penis become soft for a while and it is the reason that the condom slips up! What happens in this situation? Is there any chance to diffuse the blood under my condom?

duran,

Is there any chance to diffuse the blood under my condom?

No.

If you loose your erection, you should withdraw while holding on to the base of the condom. This is more to do with issues like pregnancy and other STIs than it is to do with hiv. Hiv is a very fragile virus, unlike most other STIs - and sperm. (sperm can move under it's own power, hiv cannot)

Make sure you are using condoms correctly by reading through the three condom and lube links in my signature line.

You did not have a risk in the situation you bring to us. Please re-read my first response to you.

I am so sorry for wasting your time. I know there are more important things to deal with for you. I want to learn something because I don't have much knowledge about sex. Two or three times with sex workers, that's all. In my situation, I did the usual thing: in and out of the girl. When doing this thing I roll down my condom because it was rolled up to the head of penis. Just 3 cms down of the head. At the end of the action when I went to bathroom I realised the blood on the condom. Here is my question: Assume that there was blood on the naked part of the penis when the condom rolled up. I rolled down my condom to the bottom of the penis. the blood escaped under my condom. Can it transmit hiv? Because maybe it can touch to the head of my penis. I continue the in and outs, maybe it can move up to the head of my penis because of the friction of my condom and her vagina. I hope that I clearified my fears. Thanks for your help again!

Despite the additional details, you didn't have a risk for hiv infection.

Hi again,
I want to learn something that I forgot to tell. When this incident happenede there was a rubbed skin in my crotch. There were a pimple and I scrathed it. It was nto bleeding. Just rubbed. 1cm of radius. Does it have any effect about HIV tranmission if the menstruation blood got into contact with it? My doctor friend told me there is risk. Is he right?

You were never at risk. Slipping of the condom it not a risk. As long as the head of your penis was covered HIV is not a concern.

Sorry for asking again. You mean that irritated skin is not a risk for HIV transmission. Is the bleeding pimple risk for HIV transmission. If it gets contact with the menstruation blood?

The important thing in this incident is that the head of your penis was covered.

All these other details you're throwing into the mix including this latest one about an irritation did not put you at risk for transmission. Your head is just playing with you. I suspect that if you had been with a civilian rather than a professional you would be less worried. Guys often have all kinds of feelings afterwards about having been with a sex worker.

The truth of the situation is not whom you are with but what you do no matter whom it is with. In this case you used a condom. They provide very effective protection. And the other details did not put you at risk.

Really.

Hi again to everybody.
This will be last time that I will ask about my situation. In two days I am planning to go to test. My situation was annoying. There was blood on the naked part of my penis. A sex worker's blood. Maybe she was positive and maybe negative. Is there any posibility for me to be positive? When I pulled my penis out of her vagina my naked part was covered with blood. When I slipped my condom down to the bottom of my penis, the blood was also moved with my condom. After then I go inside her again. When I started the in and out movement again, maybe the blood moved to the head by the help of the symen inside the condom. Is this a reasonable fear. I hope that I explained my situation clearly. If there is a risk I will prepare myself before going for test. On the net they say micro cuts can transmit hiv even if they can not be seen by the eyes. The thing that make me anxious is the night sweats for the last two weeks and the growing lympg nodes on my neck, and pain on my kidney. I know that the symptoms, exists or not, doesn't mean anything but I wanted ask again. thanks again people. And sorry for wasting your time.

What part of NO RISK is it that you didn't understand? Test when you want. You never had a risk.

Hi again people,
I am sorry for wasting your time. This will be the last time that I am posting here. A few days ago on the internet  I read an article. It says that even the condom used during the intercourse, man is under risk if the female part is HIV +. Can it be true. I read lots of posts on this site and I couldn't see such an explanation. Is there any chance of HIV to penetrate into the condom. It is stupid to ask but is there any record that the insrtive part gets HIV even if he uses condom and the his partner is HIV+ , and having menstruation?

HIV and blood cannot penetrate latex or polyethylene condoms. So whatever you read was false.

Hello again people. It's me again. I promise this will be the last question I will ask about my situation. I told before that my condom rolled up to the head of the penis and I rolled it down to the bottom while we were having sex with the lady. Last night I made an experiment. I masturbate with condom. When I ejacuate, the condom was covered with sperms. Can there be a chance that the blood mixed with the sperms and touched to the head of the penis. Because I stayed for 30 seconds or 1 minute with the condom. I didn't run to the bath in this period. After going to the bath I realised the blood on the condom. Still no risk. I hope that I explained my situation. thanks again. I asked it because today I saw something pimple like red spot but it is bigger than pimple, on the hairy part of my sexual organ.

duran,

We understood your situation the first time you posted. You did not have a risk and nothing you've added will change that fact.

If you cannot bring yourself to believe that you had no risk, go test and collect your negative result.

Hi everybody. before asking this question I checked out whether is there any question similar to that or not? I couldn't find anything. how long does the hiv live outside of the body? I mean man goes to bathroom. takes a shower. then he comes back to the bedroom. dries himself and wrap to the towel. what he seems after throwing the towel is annoying. the towel is covered with the girls blood. is there any chance for hiv transmiision. first the girl uses the towel. gives it to the boy. then my sceanrio happens. Also is the herpes on the genital part is a symptom for hiv?

Take the time to read the lessons on transmission. The link can be found in the "Welcome" thread at the top of the forum.  If you didn't have unprotected anal or vaginal sex and you didn't share works with other IV drug abusers then you did not have a risk. You cannot contract HIV from a towel or other enviromental surfaces.

I am sorry I will read more carefully. Last one month I had herpes on my hairy part of my genital part. one month ago there was 1 or 2. I thought it was pimple. yesterday I checked out there were 10 or 11. I checked out on the internet and found that it could be herpes simplex virus. or can it be hiv? is there any symptoms like that for hiv?

OK, we're not going into a revisiting of the same situation that brought you here. Unless you have had a risky incident since, then you have no basis in HIV science to be concerned about your status.

As Rod has indicated, herpes is not an HIV-related symptom. Discuss your concerns about it with your doctor.

This is NOT an HIV situation. Period.
