Seriously....like what should one pack for a trip to Seattle? I mean aside from straws, tin foil, razor blades, lube, poppers, toys and stuff like that?
I realize I could look this sort of stuff up, but it's so much easier to be spoon fed information.
Besides....it gives me an excuse to post a Gatherings thread and vent excitement.
-
I'm a jeans and tee shirt guy so no worries here .

Me, too...generally. Although I would like one or two nicer things along just in case I want to go somewhere spiffy.
-
with highs predicted to only be in the mid 70s while we're there, I guess I'll have to see what else I have to wear besides my SC flip-flops, speedos, shorts, and tanktops. Wonder where I packed away my Ohio sweater collection? LOL
-
I'm guessing that for us heat-stressed folks in the rest of the country, Seattle is going to feel like an early Spring evening for the most part, hence the heaviest thing I'm bringing is my ass and the man who loves it.
Thank you, Tim, for starting this thread! A good packing conversation has always been a part of the last few weeks (days) leading up to another memorable AMG! Looking forward to seeing you again and introducing you to Santiago.
:-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

I recommend wax-coated black Dior Homme jeans and combat boots. Oh, and don't forget your raincoats and umbrellas.
You'll need a fanny-pack for the bath house. Remember to disclose!
ps: you folks are so lucky that I won't be there. Especially Mikie.

What is that supposed to mean?

It was mostly a cheap excuse for me to post my AMG excitement.

Dear Mr. Hunter:
Here's what you need to pack:
6 parkas, (preferably fur lined).
12 pairs of long johns (multiple pairs for each day).
At least 25 umbrellas, cause everyone knows it always rains in Seattle.
2 to 3 rubber duckies for the bath.
$68.50 and an empty mayonnaise jar (it must be clean as I have a cholesterol problem!), the money which must be placed into the jar and left outside my hotel room door. ;)
Seriously Seattle is probably going to be the most frigid, rotten weather, god forsaken place all of you have ever been.
RAB ;D

I new we should have gone some where with temperate weather like New Orleans ;)

Meh....I've never had trouble finding ways to have fun in hotels.

So I've heard... ;)
BTW, I have a Marilyn Monroe dress and wig that I just got done wearinng while singing happy birthday to the President - you could borrow and wear that if you want....
-
Omg its actually been quite sunny the past few days an is supposed to stay the same with highs about 78 degrees!! Thats a big deal here.
Practical recommendations. Good shoes! Incase you werent aware Seattle is very hilly. I wouldnt recommend flip flops unless you have your own driver.
Of course I think most of yall are staying downtown so I'd say pack light and just go shopping when you get here.
-
I've checked the extended forecast and it is expected to be cool in the evenings. I'd definitely bring along a nylon jacket. Mine holds the required
parasol umbrella.
I'm ok with my packing except for the shoes. I think I've figured out the 3 pairs to bring.
-
I like Bug's suggestion to pack light and shop downtown - perfect. As near as I can tell we're going to be exposed to every kind of weather from the heights of Rainier to the rainforests. It seems the only weather we won't be dealing with is 90F+/humid days. Which is fine. Raincoat? Hate 'em. Umbrella will be the best I can do. Otherwise I'm moving the clock forward and packing as if it's late September/early October.
Btw, Miss P's suggestion of a fanny pack for the bathhouse made me roar with laughter.
Oh, and I'm sooooo excited to be going. Curtis and I have been talking about this constantly.
-

Well, you know it's true -- got to store the poppers and lube somewhere. And of course the key for your locker and perhaps some breath mints. What else am I missing? Anyone else packing speedos?

For the love of God , NO.
You should see my concave lipo ass in a Gucci thong. South Beach never was the same when I lounged at the Eden Roc in the mid-90's when Tom Ford first came out with those. I was in town for a wedding involving the union of a wealthy Ecuadorian banana plantation heiress with a vegan Seventh-Day Adventist LA architect -- I was formally introduced to the groom's parents wearing the thong. They tried hard to look unfazed.
Please note: I still had a supple ass at the time. Delightful, even, as the Holland Tunnel goes naturally.
-

OH those weddings are a dime a dozen here in Bama :D
-
Meh....I've never had trouble finding ways to have fun in hotels.
...or anywhere else. ;)
I recommend packing a couple of long-sleeve shirts and pants, particularly for night. For those of us coming from places where it's been in the 90s and 100s, Seattle might feel a little chillly. As Basquo said above, I'm looking forward to some clouds and rain. Bad weather never stopped me from having fun!
I may pack a bow tie (surprise!) just in case I want to look extra purdy. However, I see no reason to pack a speedo. ???
I'm so excited to see all of you in Seattle!!!!!!!!!!
-
Caftans are always elegant and flatter all bodies. ::)
-
I see no reason to pack a speedo.
yes, I don't think the hotel has a pool and I'm not planning on getting into the chilly Pacific. ;)
So instead of speedos, I'm thinking leather pants and harness. :D
-
The wonderful thing about AMG is it doesn't matter what you wear! No one is expecting any fashionistas.
Although in Boston -- Joe DID call one of my shirts "gay" -- the funny thing was he was said it whilst wearing a leather skirt... ;) :D
I am going for comfort -- lots of jeans and t-shirts. Sid is another story -- he'll want to make a good impression........ of course, how could he NOT -- walking in with me.
Can't wait to see my old friends and meet new ones........
Mike

I've been using it as an excuse to shop excessively. But I resorted to hiding stuff by the back door so I knew it was time to slow down. But at least I feel good about donating stuff to the needy. Plus I found a few new outfits I forgot I purchased. OH Great, another 12 stepper. :D
-

Evidently the dress code for my friend's birthday party Saturday night is "fetish," so I think chaps and harness is totally appropriate! He also mentioned that ladies should "dress up" unless they get there before they start charging cover.
Jan, don't you have a red leather jacket? I just bought a mail order red leather "travel bag" that turned out to be a red leather "purse" so it's yours and I'll bring it. If questioned we'll say that your fetish is red leather and my fetish is Jock cougars...
Bonnie, borrow a harness from your husband or his husband and we'll come up with a fetish for you.
Everyone, bring black eyeliner!
;)

I'm turning hetero after seeing that fellow in the black leather minimum ;D
Anyway I was thinking about how very lucky we have perpetually been regarding the weather at every AMG
Toronto was gorgeous, the mist of the incredible Niagara Falls felt great. Montreal was quite nice, it did rain when we went to lovely Quebec City but the chill in the air it brought didn't dampen our spirits that day. I remember Moffie driving through it back and forth. San Francisco brought it's typical quirky, changing weather and that was real nice. Mexico City was enchanting, Dennis got us that wonderful hotel room near the top of the building and it had a panoramic view of that great city. Our trip to the Pyramids was blessed (by Aztec Gods and Goddesses of course) with perfect weather. Not a glitch continued through Boston with more perfect weather.
London had some classically great weather when I went in May of last year and the locals were delighted. I thanked them of course. I actually was hoping for a day of some rain I assumed they always had, along with fog which they said they don't get much anymore. I thought all British folks walked around with raincoats all year but the weather that May was ideal and London was awesome.
An informal side trip where some AMG people have met up like Nashville were perfect as well. So too was Ft. Lauderdale when I met up with some of the guys from here. There was the time some folks came up to New York and Andy Velez met up with us at John's Pizza in the Village and it was quite a cold night but there is much to do indoors in the winter in New York.
Anyway, good advice - you can always shop wherever you go of course...Looking forward, about 12 days!
Jody :)

After 2 yrs in SC heat, I have left my Yankee ways behind me, and it's gonna be too cold in Seattle for me to be in chaps. :D and can I just say, ewww! to that picture. Hairy backs are not something I list as a turn-on. LOL

Thank goodness I need a magnifying glass to see vivid details. I'm pretty sure I need to bleach my eyes. Does that dude have NO friends who are honest?
I can hear that conversation; "does this make me look fat?"
"NO, it makes you look like a grape ape!,"

Have you priced a Utilikilt? You must be bringing a fat wallet to Seattle -- ooooh, Daddy, let's go shopping! :P Just remember that you have a 50 lb limit in your checked luggage.
Between the utilikilt and the mantyhose, I'm afraid I would end up looking like Pippy Longstocking. ::) Of course, their models seem to pull it off very well, but that's why they are models -- who is really looking at what they are wearing?

Tartan = of Tartar descent. The Tartars are the Turkic and Mongolian peoples of central Asia who invaded western Scotland in the early 18th Century. Tartan kilts were notable for not having just one or two utility pockets, but as many as six. Wearing them to the many saunas that populated Scotland was how someone thought up the gourmet dish Tube Steak Tartar, which when eaten properly is usually followed by Cream of Tartar.

Well having just spent a week in Loveland, Colorado, I know I will pack light and shop.
Of course, a few necessities will be included, like 501s.
I do have a pair of Speedos somewhere that I will gladly donate to the cause, but only if Willy wears them in public. ;)
I am getting excited now. I was trying not to, because it makes the last week waiting to board that train seem like a year.
I can't wait to see all of you.
Oh, and if you decide to buy while there and are worried about the weight limit for luggage, do what we did in San Francisco - ship the stuff back to you via UPS.
It was the only way to fly.
HUGS,
Mark

RAB
What a bunch of neophytes. Utilikilts have been around for years and I have 6 of them. My leather one is my favorite, but it was pricey. The other problem is that to wear a kilt properly, you will need a belt, a really BIG belt. The kilts are very well made and I even have a orange camo one, that we used in Amsterdam, as it reflects the Royal House of Orange. But of utmost importance, if you wear a kilt, wear it correctly, on the hips, not snugged against your waist. And what do you wear under a kilt? NOTHING (cockrings excepted).
Also Mike, your shirt was very gay. ;D
-
I have a feeling the forums are going to seriously tank between now and AMG.

Well apparently Mr. Hunter you're not the only one with nothing to wear. You know who is here (her broom landed 15 minutes early), her suitcase weighs a frickin ton, and she's also claiming she's got nothing to wear. She wants to go to WalMart to look for some inexpensive tops! ::)
I don't know what she's got in that frickin steamer trunk, but it's certainly enough to make a respectable queen envious.

Its a bigger job than you realize . Each of my T-shirts must be inspected for fried chicken grease stains down the front of them before they can be packed and that takes at least 5 minutes . I paid up to $5 a piece for these shirts so you would think I would take better care of them .

Nordstroms never had shoes like these I found at Kohl's... I just hope the TSA does not insist that I take them off at the security check. These go with pretty much anything and should be very comfy while walking up and down those hills in downtown Seattle.

Yipes. I'm supposed to leave this afternoon for my friend's (who is taking me to the airport).
I guess I should pack now, eh?
-
I'm just going to borrow clothes from others when I get there... that way I dont have to fuck with that carry on shit. No need to pack Tim. Just go as you are.

Aha! So that's why you told me to pack so much stuff. :D

What, no possum? I have some lovely venison in my freezer that I could contribute. Even Philly would be in awe of how tender and delicious it is.
I'd also be happy to make some queso dip with Velveeta and Ro*Tel (http://www.ro-tel.com/index.jsp). A staple of every BBQ I attended or hosted when I lived in Liberty Hill.

Awesome Henry!
Since you're from Texas, perhaps you could also bring some Boudain (extra hot).

Good Idea .... we might not find much good meat that's been run over near the hotel .

I will definitely miss meeting you, Tim, Jan, and other good friends. Too many things, including a minor surgery, got in my way --ideally I will make it next year.
Hope all of you guys have a wickedly awesome time. Please take lots of evil pictars and post them on Facebook.

My old hound dog was like that, too. Colonel would howl and have a fit - even with no prior suitcase experiences. It's like he just "knew" what one meant.

My dog is the exact same dog Jesus would have if he had a dog , she is perfect in every way and performs miracles all over the back yard . I am not charging my friend to keep her for me , his job is to figure out what she wants and to give it to her in a timely manner .

hell! if you won't do it, I will. ;) and probably already have. :D
No Thanks Mikie, I'm a very happy married man, and I've been that way for the last 18 yrs. but Thanks anyway dear ;D

Well I'm packed. 2 jeans, 8 tshirts, 2 button down shirts, 7 underwear, 7 socks, assorted and multipile cosmetics, half of Jan's shit, oh and meds of course.
Damn suitcase is the size of a steamer trunk! >:(
Seattle here we come! ;D
We leave the house at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow, (she's bitching about getting up "early" ::)) and will be in Seattle by noon.
Got a text from Aztecan this morning, his train was just pulling into LA. He won't actually arrive in Seattle till after 8:00 pm tomorrow night! :o That man is certifiable if you ask me.
See everyone there.
RAB ;D

shh. don't tell Hopey that I'm still awake. I'm just excited. :D
James got in early down here this afternoon, and we took a tour around Charlotte since he hasn't been there in like forever (his last trip there was nearly the same yr I left NC for OH and that was in 85 :o). I even got to go by my old house where me, my brothers and parents lived. It's sad that it takes an out-of-town visitor to have the excuse to go visit Charlotte. LOL
We sat out on my deck and chatted for hours! and not a mosquito to be heard - or felt! We called up Wolfie and chatted with him for a while tonite too.
I just packed up my laptop and stuff, and should be trying to get some sleep. We have to wake up around 4 to meet up with the friend at 5 who'll be taking up to the airport at 6 for our 730 plane. (I wonder if we'll have time at the Minneapolis* layover to drink a margarita or two??) So twelve-ish hrs from now, we'll be in Seattle and heading to the Roosevelt. See y'all there! ;D
mikie
* hey peeps in Minnesota!! That'll be the first time I've ever been in that state! I'll wave to ya!
