Hiv subtypes
« on: December 27, 2006, 06:39:14 pm »
Hi,

First of all, thank u for the help you are providing here. I was actually convinced that i don't have hiv since yesterday i heard about this "subtypes" thing. Is the risk for unprotected vaginal intercourse for the insertive partner differs in different parts of the world, assuming all the other variables are same?

Can different subtypes make insertive oral sex risky or is it riskfree under all circumstances?

Lastly,

Can a 10 week test result (generation unknown) be considered highly reassuring (or conclusive) after protected vaginal and unprotected oral (receiving)?

Sorry for my English if it is not clear.

Thank you for your help!

Forget about the subtypes and substrains. When you test, as you did in 10 weeks, you can bet the test would not change in more two weeks time period.

Thank you Rapidrod for your answer.

Do you think i need to test again for protected vaginal and unprotected insertive oral or is 10 week test enough?

You didn't need to test at all.

Hello everyone!

I have one more question.

I know, symptoms are never a reliable inidcator of infection.

If ARS symptoms happen at all, can they stay for the first a few months after infection? Can anyone face symptoms, 5-6 months after infection?

Thank you.

No you do not get ARS symptoms 5-6 months after infection. If you were to have it at all it would be in the time line of 2-4 weeks after being infected. You your situation, you didn't have a risk. Any symtpoms you have are not related to HIV. See your doctor if you have concerns.

Hello Ann,

I always see that you are telling "HIV is not easy to transmit. It is even harder for the insertive partner during vaginal sex"

Are the odds internationally the same or are there any other factors (such as subtypes) affecting the transmission frequency.

Sorry I am not a native speaker. I know i am talking like an economist.  :)

Thank you for your help again.

You're kind of stuck in a loop here given that you have already been advised on the risk of infection. Your subtype question doesn't change any of the advise already delivered nor does it factor into the general realities of what constitutes a risk versus non risk.

To reaffirm what has already been delivered to you, protected sex and insertive oral do not result in infection and condoms certainly don't differentiate on subtypes.

This isn't a case of potential infection.

Alive,

It doesn't matter where in the world you have intercourse, who you have it with or what type of hiv they may or may not have. What matters is HOW you do it - and that is the ONLY thing that matters.

Use condoms when you have anal or vaginal intercourse and you will be just fine where hiv is concerned. Condoms have been proven to prevent hiv infection.

You didn't have a risk. If you insist on continuing to come here to rehash this non-risk event, I will have to give you a time out to encourage you to seek face-to-face help with your anxieties.

waiting results

Hi all.

Sorry for taking your time again but i got tested today and will be getting the results in two hours after my protected sex and unprotected blowjob (receiving) . I could not put my mind at peace, although you all said that it was a no risk situation. But i had so many strange symptoms that i dont normally have. I am always thinking that what if the condom broke and i did not notice. My mind playing tricks on me.

Can i be confident that it is going to be negative?

Thank you...

If the condom was damaged you would have known it. When that happens it's not some teeny weeny itsy bitsy little hole. It falls apart and leaves your johnson wearing a fringed hula hoop. Did that happen? No. I didn't think so.

You've got a little bit of waiting time for your result. Get productively busy and stop indulging in this orgy of self-torture. No kidding.

After which you can collect the inevitable negative result.

This is generally what a condom looks like when it fails.  Not subtle at all.

And finally i got my results. And it is negative as you all said innumarable times. Thank you for all the help you give me. This site make me feel better when i feel over anxious.

And i know i am not in a position to give advice but i want to say something to all worried wells who reach the conclusion that they are infected by looking at symptoms. I had all kinds of symptoms that is written in the book and more suprisingly i have never had them before in my entire life.

I had everything. Swollen glands in neck and groin(could be seen on my neck clearly)  .dierrhea. rash on my back arms  . sore throat. heavy underarm sweat even when it is cold(i later realised that it is totally stress related because when i feel fine mentally sweat suddendly disappeared) . dandruff on my face which i talked to a dermatologist a few hours ago and she said it is anxiety related. strange pains all over my body. and seriously dry skin.

What i am saying is i have never had any of these symptoms before and that's why i was totally convinced that i have hiv.

Our mind is so powerful boss that it can create anything you want to see on your body.

Thank you thank you thank you for all the help.
