Unknowingly sucked off a Poz guy- risk?
« on: August 18, 2017, 08:16:55 am »
Hey
Im well aware this question is asked all over the place and the same answers are given, i would just like a personal response to my spexific exposire.

I met a guy from grindr 2 days ago and we kissed, i sucked him and he sucked me briefly after. There was precum on his part and quite alot of it. I wiped most of it off before sucking him. I deepthroated and he cum on my chest- not mouth. I had brushed my teeth maybe 15 minutes before, very lightly and stopped once i realised how stupid that was.

The whole thing lasted less than 10 minutes, i did not cum. I usually ask status before anything happens but didnt this time. I asked him after and he said he was Poz undetectable and that he was sure he told me- he didn't, so I am a little annoyed. This is the first time ive come into contact (that i know of) so im probably worrying over nothing.

Im pretty sure i didnt have a risk of exposure but would love some clarification.

Thanks

Risk of receiving oral is zero...none.
Giving oral is considered negligible, low to none. We always assume your partner is living with HIV when doing assessments so his status is a mute point.

Firstly I agree with Wade on the risk assesment, and have nothing to add to that.

I did however want to comment in general about safer sex and the “The Stupid Question” & relates to your own responsibility.  Stupid as it really does not matter what answer someone gives you, its meaningless.

You should always presume someone is HIV positive to be honest and even if someone says they are negative and tested today, all it means if true is they were negative 13 weeks ago, fat lot of good that does for you. Trust does not prevent HIV.

Instead presume they are positive or simply don't know and protect yourself and reduce your risks, its your own responsibility and asking about someone's status does not resolve your responsibility towards yourself or keep you safe. Use condoms and lube for intercourse and test frequently for STI & HIV.

Again regarding this risk assessment I fully agree with Wade's post.

Thanks so much for your quick answers and the extra wisdom. Ive never really thought about it way before but i agree 100%. Theyre word means nothing really.

Based on both your feedback, i should just forget about this and move on? No need to test?
Thanks again

No need to run out and test or worry as you had no real world risk.

Just test next time you are due as normal.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim
