Just announced on CBS news that a judge ordered gay marriages can resume immediately.

I got the news alert on my phone.  They showed pic of the lesbian couple, who helped bring the suit, getting married tonight.  When everyone was saying it would take 30 days, I kept asking why.

Just heard late Saturday the sponsors of prop 8 have filed an emergency petition with the CA court to stop SS marriages. I swear these people never give up. They want to start the whole court process all over again, but only after first getting another stay halting SS marriage in the mean time. Naturally, this stunt is not going to work. But try they will at anything. The news media likes reporting on this stuff because it makes drama and sells. But really, the media must simply stop reporting on these fringe groups and their frugal attempts. They are not going anywhere. The issue has been settled. And there is no reason for this to qualify as national news.
Its like reporting on the national news about every crack pot that swears aliens just abducted their cat.
That cat alien abduction news doesn't qualify for recognition as national reported news, nor should settled court cases.
At this point, I figure it involves maybe 5 people anyway, that refuse to accept that our country is ruled by law and the legal system.
I see no reason for the national news media to report on this craziness by a handful of crazies.

Kentucky gets made fun of, for being backward.  An openly gay state representative in Pennsylvania was stopped from speaking about DOMA on the floor.  The republican who stopped him said he did it, because discussing it goes against God.  Ok, we all know Pennsylvania has its own Bible-thumpers, but they often dodge being made fun for being backwards.

Since we do have a separation of church and state, I think we need to crack down on this.  It is one thing for legislators to discuss religion.  Of course they are free to discuss it, when making arguments.  But, it is another thing to shut down speech of other legislators, based on religious views.  This is totally different.  Of course, they can claim they followed rules.  But, he admitted he did it based on his religious views.  This should not be tolerated.

But the citizens elect these government officials, the ones who do not understand separation of church and state. 

I would say a good 40% of the American population believes the us is a "Christian" nation (whatever that means), Jews allowed, Muslims, well, no, I mean yes in principal but they're just too damn scary they caused all those wars and are all terrorists.... etc etc.

And the idea of a truly secular state confuses them, angers them, scares them.

These are people who truly truly truly believe in a Christian god, and probably not in evolution, and rather iffy on half of science.

They see zero hypocrisy in their faith.

Someday they are going to wakeup and realise that fundamentalist muslims are their natural bedfellows and comrades. and that they want pretty much the same thing - laic governments, justice systems, schooling, culture, and so on.

Oh and Obama is touring Africa.  Fresh off the US milestones on gay civil rights, he's lecturing about what exactly "equal rights" mean.

Calling discrimination of homosexual and transgender people "one of the remaining human rights challenges of our time," Secretary Clinton said "gay rights are human rights, and human rights are gay rights."
"It is violation of human rights when people are beaten or killed because of their sexual orientation, or because they do not conform to cultural norms about how men and women should look or behave," she said. "It is a violation of human rights when governments declare it illegal to be gay, or allow those who harm gay people to go unpunished."
John Nagenda, a senior adviser to Uganda's president Yoweri Museveni, told The Christian Science Monitor that this view would be "anathema" to most African nations.
"I don't like her tone, at all," he said.
