Title: Did I get Infected?
Post by: wi_alen on May 26, 2011, 11:52:43 pm
Making a long story short. Been with a same woman for 7 years, 5 of them been married to her and don’t have anything now.  Friday night I visited a friend in a big city that took me out. After bar hopping all night my buddy took me to see his friend who had a b-day party with “women who sell sex ”.  It was a Saturday morning when I end up fingering one of the women for about two minutes. I fix cars for a living and my fingers had cuts on them that were not bleeding at the time but still would burn if I would put alcohol on them (I don’t know if it is considered a fresh cut – what is considered a fresh cut). Later Saturday my buddy confessed to me that he almost had sex with her but did not because “same women” was ok with not using condoms. I remember that that woman had a lot of fluids in her vegina from sex before or from other people fingering her. I am freaking out: my head and heck is in pain for 5 days now and on a 3rd day got diarrhea too also lost my sleep. All of my lymph nodes are in pain too. My imagination is running wild. I was exposed to veginal fluids and maybe semen too.

At no time were you ever had risk of contracting HIV from fingering, that includes have, cuts, nicks, abrastions or hangnails on your finger.

You are worrying needlessly. HIV is not passed through fingering, no not even if you have nicks and sores on your fingers from work.

It's a fragile virus and in order to be transmitted the only confirmed risks sexually are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. That's it.

There's no need for testing nor for further concern on your part.

Alen,

I agree that you did not have a risk for hiv infection. Fingering is absolutely NOT a risk, even with cut fingers. I'm poz and I was with an hiv negative man for eight years. He works in construction so he also quite often had nicks, scrapes and cuts on his fingers. He remained hiv negative, despite the fact that I've never been on meds and have always had a detectable viral load. The only thing we did to keep him safe was to use condoms for intercourse. It really is that simple!
