My First Labs Since Starting Meds
« on: January 17, 2007, 06:28:29 pm »
Hey Guys,

I went in on the 15th of January to get some labs done. My ID team wanted my labs some days prior to go over with me tomorrow. I called up the lab computer and my ALT level is almost back to normal, even after ten days on sustiva and truvada. They are really monitoring my liver since the bactrim scare in December.

I know that after 10 days on the meds I may see little if any improvement as far as cd4's and viral load are concerned. I am just happy that my ALT levels keep heading towards the normal range.

I will post any results tomorrow to encourage or at least inform my fellow aidsmeds members who are waiting to start meds.

I look at what I have been through in two months and am still a bit shocked about how much my life has changed since that fateful day. In two months I have gone from a positive oral swab test, to a confirmatory western blot and ELISA, to an AIDS diagnosis with pcp, to three days in the hospital with a toxic liver, to starting meds,  to feeling better! An interesting and frightening journey filled with hope in such a short time.

Along the way, I joined a family here. Thanks for your cheerleading which has made this journey all the more bareable, and at times funny.

Wish me luck!

love,

rob

Hey Rob

Good luck with your lab results. Don't expect a big change in your CD4 counts because it takes a few weeks to see results so don't get discouraged. You will do fine and with your positive attitude and tolerance to the meds you are going to do even better. Just keep taking the meds and get rest.

Thank you, Rob, for putting us in touch with all you have been through and where you are going.  It's what the present and future family members, as you noted, will need to get them through things.  Best, Win
