Cunniligus, hiv?
« on: July 13, 2020, 03:04:43 pm »
Hi. I’m a guy from Italy, sorry for my english. In the last month I went often to prostitutes, I always used condom, all the time, I never had sex without condom for vaginal and anal intercourses and never in my life too without condom, and never a condom was broken when I used, but in this month when I went to prostitutes even if I always used condom I did cunniligus on the vagina of prostitutes and I’m scared about cunniligus, because In Italy doctors here say that cunniligus is not a risk of hiv, if you don’t have blood in your mouth or if the girls has menstruation, but usually when I brush my teeth I have bleeding gums and I have often in my mouth canker sores, this could be a risk while I do cunniligus? Should I get test? Or I didn’t had risk? When I did cunniligus never the prostitutes has menstruation or a lot of vaginal secretions fluid, that never came in my mouth, so I shouldn’t be scared but because I usually have bleeding gums and canker sores, I’m so scared, and I don’t know if I had a risk, about this.

Hiya,

Cunnilingus is not an HIV concern.

As for the intercourse, HIV can't transmit through an intact latex or polyurethane condom. If a condom fails during intercourse it's obvious, now as long as this obvious issue did not happen move on with your life.

If what you posted was your only sexual encounters then relax and move on with your life! Continue to use condoms for intercourse, no expectations and test at least early out of standard routine for STI's and HIV.

Here's what you need to know to avoid HIV infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of HIV protection going forward

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

Kind regards

Jim

Thank you so much, you were very clear and fast to answer me, I really appreciate your work here, I just don’t understand if even with bleeding gums and canker sores I didn’t had a risk while I performed a cunnilingus on prostitutes, even with them I didn’t have a risk? You never saw someone in this forum that had hiv after performing a cunniligus? I saw on the site poz, that there are two cases of contagious from a woman to woman and from a woman to a men while they were performing cunnilingus, I’m worried about this cases, sorry if I’m asking too many questions

Hiya,

Look the fact they were sex-workers changes nothing, just to point that out as you keep mentioning their profession.

The cunnilingus, see the fluid a woman produces when sexually excited comes from the Bartholin's glands, this is a lubricating fluid and does not have any more hiv present than other bodily secretions such as saliva, sweat or tears.  Saliva, sweat and tears are not infectious fluids.

Next to lacking exposure there are other conditions not met or barriers meaning regardless of your bleeding gums, simple Cunnilingus does not meet the biological requirements needed for HIV transmission and there has never been a confined case either.

Your doctor has correctly informed you it's not a concern, so move on with your life, relax and continue to use condoms for intercourse, no expectations and test at least yearly out of standard routine for STI's and HIV.

Okay thankyou so much, but you said that I should check for hiv yearly, so do you think that I could have get hiv from these cunnilingus, or you say just because I’m sexually active, you think that I could have get hiv but with low risk or I can’t have get hiv from what I told you, sorry for all of the questions I’m very anxious

Hiya,

You are sexually active and should be testing for HIV & STI's as said out of standard routine at least yearly. Already answered but for clarity, you did not acquire HIV from cunnilingus.
