Hi.
Each country must have a different system, so you should check and find the situation in Malaysia.

Hi 24ofmay2015, I'm new here and a Malaysian as well.

You can get free treatment from government clinics and hospitals. Only first line of antiretrovirals are free of charge.

http://www.moh.gov.my/index.php/database_stores/store_view/1
You can check out the link above to see any clinics that are convenient for you. Only clinics bearing the name "Klinik Kesihatan" can you find medical help for HAART.

Hope this helps!! ;)

Hi, Im a malaysian + too.

Do not worry much as nearly all major gov hospitals will provide free first line treatment. Do watch out for semi government hosp though, as they only subsidized certain meds and cd4/VL tests.

I opted for the tenofovir+efa combination as its once a day and better than older meds that they still give which will cause facial wasting. As i told my other + friends. Please, please adhere to the medication given to you as it is free. We are lucky as some other countries you have to fork out alot of money to pay for the ARV meds. Second line treatment will cause you some money.

You just have to get a letter from the doc (priv or gov) and bring to the hospital and show them. Where are you located? Sungai Buloh Hospital has excellent ID treatment with no stigma from the nurses.

Nice to know you :D. Stay strong

So this once a day med is first line or 2nd line? How much are you paying for it?
I spoke to my doc that I want to switch to Atripla because I think it's more convenient for me, but the doc said that since I'm doing well with my meds(combivir +nevirapine) there's no reason to switch, plus Atripla is considered 2nd line in Malaysia so it won't be subsidised anymore.
Thoughts?

Hmmm..i dont know what doc u r looking at , combivir have a higher chance for causing lipo.

Atripla is actually a single pill contain tenofovir and efavirenze. Malaysia does not have the generic atripla yet. You have to ask for tenofovir and efavirenz, which is still first line trearment meaning u will be taking 2 pills a day. Same thing as atripla but not a single pill only

U needs to do abit more research on the meds. Malaysia free first line treatment r usually generic. Those u mention r expensive and still protected intelectually. Atriola generics are available in India but not allowed in malaysia due to patent issue.

Hello! Welcome to the forums. If you have not found a support group yet, there's one called the Pink Triangle Foundation. They run a group for gays (http://www.msmpoz.com/) and meet once a month in Kuala Lumpur. Friendly bunch, mostly Malay crowd. I can link you up with the co-ordinator if you're interested. Send me a PM! If you speak Mandarin, you might want to try KLASS (http://www.klass.org.my/en/home.html) but I've never been there myself even though I speak it.

Hello
Malaysian here too.

I was given Combivir/Efavirenz theraphy; and it's entering my second month. I do have dizziness now and then but I try to manage since the idea of changing to a new combo scares me a lot.

Hi,
Sorry about your new status. If things don`t work out in MY and if you can make it to BKK (Airasia has frequent cheap flights) you can get pretty cheap treatment in BKK. I know many from your country come here to buy meds. check out the Thai Red Cross anonymous clinic. http://en.trcarc.org/?page_id=632
