In tribute to Jan...some of my art
« on: November 27, 2006, 09:39:00 pm »
I painted and photographed much through high school, I only stopped only when I discovered floral design and gardening in college.

So here I submit one of my darkest works. Dark because it was in my "dark period," of 1984, the Spring after my first boyfriend returned to his hometown and we parted ways.  The actual picture is my interpretation of Bette Davis or a similar star removing her wedding ring, but the irony is that I was painting my own mother (who removed her ring 9 years later, sporting a similar hairstyle.)

Seeing into the future is a bitch.  I medicate that talent/curse at every opportunity. But don't worry, I painted much more than avant-garde minimalism and pre-Nagel chicks.

Well done.  Show more!  That goes for all of you artists.  I'm almost of the mind that there should be a perm gallery thread for the AM artists here to show on.

I'll second that (as long as you didn't mean a hairstyle thread) ;)

Basquo,
As an artist, I have to say that I really really like this painting! I love seeing what others can do here, and I'm in agreement with Hunter about the Gallery. Is there a way we can go about doing this?
The only thing I can do straight is shoot..
