Gratitude?
« on: November 07, 2012, 04:21:53 pm »
Not really important, but I was out enjoying myself which isn’t a regular occurrence these days.  I had to stop in and do some financial things for work.  Surprise, but I decided to stay around and have a couple of cocktails.  A lot of focus was on my cast thingy until I met the most incredible couple.

Most VFW’s have agreements for entry.  We had the most adorable couple ring the bell.  As I checked their affiliation, I had a beautiful paradigm.  As much as I complain about the loss of the use of my leg, this gentleman lost his leg.  Talking about feeling like dog poop on the rear end of it all.

Talking about feeling like dog poop on the rear end of it all.

Don't ever beat yourself up over feeling the way you do about your current situation. Any time we hit a bit of adversity in our lives it can be unsettling. Maybe seeing the guy made you realize this injury has thrown you for a curve more than you thought. Then you felt foolish for allowing that to happen. Then one negative thought led to another and before you knew it, you found yourself ready for the pooper scooper.

I don't think breaking your leg is something one just brushes off and ignores. It also isn't just that you are having to take time to heal, you are also having to do a massive amount of life-adjustment in a very small window of time. This can leave you feeling frustrated over your inability to maintain your former level of activity.

A lot of times we'll never know the other guy's story. We only know our own. Comparing yourself to others never ends happily.

Be glad for the guy that he has been able to adjust to his loss and get on with his life. Be glad for yourself that you are still mobile and that you will get through this.

Cheers.
Reality is frequently inaccurate.
