Unprotected oral with a trans sexy worker, will I be okay?

HI,

About 12 days ago I had an encounter with a trans sex worker. I gave her a unprotected blowjob for close to 45 minutes and then she returned the favor (also unprotected). She smoked meth for almost the entire session and I used poppers the entire time (no meth for me). The sex worker did not ejaculate into my mouth though there was a bit of precum. I did ejaculate into her mouth. Regardless of using meth she had very good dental hygiene and so did I. My question is what is the likelihood of me contracting HIV from this situation?

Hiya,

Receiving a blowjob is no HIV risk to you. Giving a blowjob, the mouth generally lacks a route for HIV to infect, even if you had gaping holes in your mouth like meth mouth saliva also acts to neutralize HIV damaging the receptors needed to infect human cells.

It's such a minute risk that we don't even recommend specifically testing over it.
Just get tested whenever you are next, normally due for a regular STI & HIV screening.

Here's what you need to know to avoid HIV infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions. Consider talking to your health care provider about taking PrEP going forward as an additional layer of HIV protection.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

Thank you so much for your fast response. I spoke to a doctor yesterday and along with giving me a full panel of tests she also explained to me that oral is a low risk activity, but it is possible. She then explained to me that I could have been prescribed pep if I was in the 72 hour window. I told her that I read that pep isn't percribed such low risk as this. She said that is true but she would have felt conformable prescribing it to me. She also said I could have lied if I really wanted pep. I honestly felt pretty bad that I didn't come to her sooner after I heard that.

The minute risk does not warrant testing outside of routine, let alone PEP.

Now I know people who get PEP for things like shaking hands because their anxiety is high enough, However, it does not mean that they had a risk either.

Move on with your life.
