None of the republicans responding doesn't surprise me.
I was also glad to see both Hillary and Bernie had similar answers.
I was struck by part of one of Bernie's answers.

I have introduced legislation in the past to create a prize model to spur innovation for new HIV/AIDS medications. Essentially, a company bringing a truly innovative HIV/AIDS treatment to market would receive a cash prize instead of patent protection; the treatment would then be placed in the public domain, allowing generic versions to come onto market quickly. This ensures companies are still compensated for their research and development, while keeping drug prices affordable for all patients. We have seen absolutely incredible advancements in HIV/AIDS treatment over the last thirty years, but the disease can only be managed if patients can afford their medications. "

Interesting responses, although Hilary could do with a few updating pointers - in referring to 'full blown' AIDS, and declaring that people diagnosed with HIV can live "20 to 30 years" without adverse health effects. :)

One thing I've learned over the past 30 + years
Most are not fully educated unless it affects them or someone they care about .
Politicians are no different .

Yes so true! Now that things are better it seems the media has no interest. I wish they would start reporting more on how far treatment has come. It could help end the stigma.

sadly the reporting that has happened in the past has already lead some of those at risk to believe that HIV is no longer "a big deal" since there are once-a-day pills.  :(

it seems the media has no interest
is this World AIDS Day (Dec 1st) at 7pm for the nightly national news?? That's the only time the "media" is going to touch on HIV as a big story . . . unless it's those other 2 stories a year about how some discovery is possibly leading to the cure in a short time. ::)
