Anxious over uprotected oral, protected anal
« on: September 17, 2017, 11:45:12 am »
Hello all. First I just want to say thank you for running this very informative site.

Now, I have a few concerns I am very anxious over and would like multiple opinions, if possible. I am a known hypochondriac and have a very real fear of hiv. I am a 21 year old gay male.

My first concern is over unprotected oral sex. I went on a tinder date and ended up bringing the man home with me. I asked his status many times, he said he was negative for everything, and we proceeded to give each other blowjobs. He also rimmed me. Are any of these activities risks for HIV? I have decent oral health, although my gums bleed when I brush my teeth from time to time and I think I had a canker sore during this. Other than that, my oral health is good.

My next concern is over unprotected oral sex WITH swallowing. A few days later I hooked up with a guy I have been seeing on and off for a while. We both gave each other oral sex, and we both swallowed. Is this a risk? I would feel terrible putting him at risk but I know (as I have read many times) that oral sex is truly not a risk unless you have horrible oral hygiene, as in meth mouth. I would just like to confirm this and was wondering if I had anything to worry about.

Lastly, a few days ago I engaged in unprotected oral sex and protected anal sex with a couple I found on grindr. I usually never have anal sex but one thing lead to another and I ended up topping one of them. The oral sex was unprotected,  both received and gave to both of them, no swallowing was involved. For anal, they gave me a condom, I put it on, and proceeded to top one of the men. I am a bit concerned about this because as I was pulling out of him one time, I noticed the condom had slipped up a little bit, and instead of covering my whole penis it was only about Id say halfway covered. The head and urethra was definitely still covered but some of my shaft was exposed. Is this a risk? I then pulled it down to where it was supposed to be and then proceeded to top him. I ended up cumming inside the condom inside of him, and when I pulled out the condom seemed to have shifted a little but not by much at all, head was still covered. The condom also did not appear to have any tears, I checked it after I took it off. Do you think I had a risk in this situation or that I need to be worried at all? Before and after these acts I asked them many times if they were tested etc, they both said yes.

Again, thank you for your time and for answering my questions. I am trying to get over my fears and enjoy my sexual life, but I find it rather hard. It almost takes the fun out of sex although I am always sure to wear a condom when it comes to penetrative anal sex. I am very concerned over the anal sex I told you about even though I was wearing a condom. Do you think I have any reason to be worried? THank you again!

Also I should add my anxiety is heightened as I have been feeling a little ill lately. I'm scared it could be ars from the situations I have describe, with the first one happening about a week ago. I woke up with a sore throat a few days ago that has since passed, and have just been feeling sluggish and tired overall. I also feel one of my lymph nodes is a bit swollen and I get hot often, which makes me wonder if I have a fever. Could these be ars symptoms so soon/at all?

ALSO, I suffer from anal fissures and had a small one when I was rimmed, is this a risk? Sorry for multiple postings.

Being rimmed is not a risk, anal fissures make no difference to that.

Lots of things cause this, HIV is however simply not one of them. Now we don't as a rule discuss symptoms here, so if you feel unwell go see a doctor and treat whatever is making you feel unwell.

Look condoms shred when they break during intercourse leaving no doubt. I do not know what you mean with checking afterwards but simple stop it.

As for the rest of you post nothing you mentioned warranted any reason to panic or run out and test. Se there hasn’t been a single documented case of HIV transmission to an insertive partner (the person being "sucked") and you will not be the first.

Now as for giving a BJ, the mouth lacks the cells to infect without damage and on top of that the virus is very fragile, and your mouth has dozens of protein and enzymes that damage the virus and render it unable to infect.

So all in all move on with your life and simply test as routine next time you are due.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim
