HERSHEY BOYCOTT announced BETTER LATE THAN NEVER
« on: February 10, 2012, 03:37:02 pm »
I just received word today of a call for a boycott and letter writing campaign against Hershey because the private school which they help fund rejected an eligible HIV-positive student.

Here's a Facebook link to the initiating agency -- I'll try to amend later with the letter-writing campaign link.

Thanks Em for staying on top of this terrible injustice led by fear, ignorance and bigotry. :(

Hi Jody!

Thanks for the note. I've decided for my candy purchasing that boycotting Hershey needs to go well beyond the Valentine's Day spending. I intend to write them again and let them know.

I did not know about this. I read this to my daughter who is negative and I gave birth to her while I was positive. Her favorite candy is hershey kisses. She said she won't buy then now.

Hi Idee,

I think that's great that you share such information with your daughter. There are plenty of other non-Hershey candies in the world. Probably best to look at a list of all the candies they make -- it goes well beyond chocolates.

Thanks I share it because to me she is very special. She is negative and I was positive during pregnancy. My family used to tell me not to kiss her so she would not get infected, I did kiss her little forehead though.
I have been through getting spit on while walking down the street, I even had to change schools during my last year of high school, not just because of my grades, but a girl tried to beat me up for being postive.
I want my daughter to be compassionate towards others.

Thank you CamCam. You're right. It is totally not okay. Thank you for posting it on your Facebook page.

I wonder how many pozzies and their networks are employed by the Hershey Company AND consume their goods --- worldwide.
