Name that dog... mini participation requested
« on: June 20, 2014, 08:22:43 pm »
I'd like to keep this thread Mini friendly, I'll watch my mouth, y'all too. If you don't know, that means there are children reading this, behave yourselves you heathen horde. So Mom, can Mini play, please?  ;D

Naming a dog is a great responsibility. Naming my kids, not so much, cracked open the Bible and went from there. All the males in my family have biblical names, so it took the pressure off.

This is for a dog. This is important.

Two syllables, phonetically different from each other. A call name should be practiced, go yell it out, what travels, what sounds. dogs respond best to hard stops and long vowels sounds. Nothing with "NO" in it, makes training and others calling the dog a problem.

Personally, kids have always named my pets. But then I got stuck with a dog named Lady Godiva of the Lake (Diva) for 15 years.

so the short list

fifa... i've been watching alot of soccer this world cup.... alot

bertha... the only dead song to make the cut

yonder... as in "where's the dog? down yonder valley"

bijou... french for jewel, as in lac bijou

udee... leaning this way, y'all understand, but all the negs in my life have no clue

thoughts and votes? pick up next weekend, spend a little time with dog before final choice, stay tuned for announcement

lola obviously has the best dog name in north georgia. we cannot hope to compete, though they will be friends

Pistol

Starts with a  good hard pssss sound and ends with that elongated L.

Not very feminine though. You can add an 'a' at the end and make it 3 syllables:

Piss---Toe----La

Udee I enjoy, actually I'm concerned, I've emailed Minis mom a few times and haven't heard from them. Anyone know them personally and can give a shout out? Her thread hasn't been active and now I'm down right concerned. Not to be a buzzkill, but I'm on this site far to often to not notice she hasn't been around. Zach, Udee sounds beautiful, and for the other dog maybe call it Ninja, haha just kidding that's what I call my pills, my Ninjas-kicking ass and taking names. My alarm goes off very morning at 820 and says check for Ninjas! It makes me smile a bit, lol.

Thought I would come to the party with a few names, I had to name my new arrival about a month ago, it's not easy finding the perfect name.

 Lantana......A beautiful plant from Australia
 Latte..........My favourite coffee
 Lena..........After the legendary Lena Horn
 Lightning....I love a good storm
 Loopy Lou.. Andy Pandy's girlfriend
 Lucy..........Linus's sister from Peanuts
Lucille........A Little Richards great hit (probably before your time  :))

That's all I've got.

Lantana comes from there?  Love that plant.  It is strong and took over our flower bed, in a good way.  I like that name.  I also like Bindi.  But, I hear that's taken.  ;)

I like:

Pebbles

Farrah, because of the golden lab comparison to Ms. Fawcet.

Of course, I love Kacey, because she was my best gal for 16 years.  And, Elle, which has a long E and pronounced Ellie.  Or, just Ellie.

Jewell

Dorie-- yes, from Finding Nemo

It's hard.  Sounds like Udee has been chosen, which is a great name.  Is that pronounced yoo-dee?  Or eww-dee?
