From the August 1, edition, of Science Daily (HIV and AIDS):

Vorinostat produces a window of vulnerability in the HIV reservoir by triggering viral antigen production. The team developed the latency clearance assay (LCA) to measure the amount of antigen activity Vorinostat produces. The assay also includes immune effectors capable of clearing the cells expressing the viral antigen.

My understanding is Vorinostat is relatively safe.. just wondering if my dr. could write me a script for this since it's fda approved.. what's the hold up?.

I think the hold up it just exposes the viral resorvair but it does not reduce them.  Basically there is no benefit taking it on its own unless you have some form of immuno therapy to killl those cells

Vorinistat has that potential, but something else is needed to clear the cells once they've been exposed. I was going to do a clinical trial, but I wasn't qualified to continue once they measured my reservoir.
Is it safe? Ehh, it depends on what you mean. It can't come in contact with your skin because it can burn and you had to sign up for some Cancer registry if you took more than 4 doses of it, so yea there was that.
It had potential as a tool, but it's not major by itself.
