ARS symptom?
« on: August 27, 2011, 01:56:46 pm »
about two weeks ago, i had protected oral from a stripper at a local strip club.  it lasted maybe about couple minutes.  before the act, she handed me a brand new condom so i know the condom itself is good.  i been monogamus so this is a first in a long time, 8 or 9 years.

i know this put me at virtually no risk for any STD.  however, 7 days after, i started to have recurring fever daily (99.5 to 102) in the afternoon around 2 pm and in the morning around 2 am.  the AM fever would make me sweat big time and then the fever goes away.  it's been about 8 days now and i am still experiencing the fever.  3 days ago, i also noticed some minor non-itchy rash on my arm and my inner thigh.

i have gone to my pcp for blood test, nothing is wrong with me.   i try not to be paranoid but that seems to be against human nature as my symptoms are indicative of ARS.

what's your assessment and recommendation?

Whatever is going on with you symptomatically has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with HIV because nothing you did put you at risk for the HIV virus.

The ONLY confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. As long as you consistently use condoms for those activities you will be well protected.

Even if you had a blowjob without a condom it would not have been a risk for HIV. It is one of the most common of sexual activities and in the entire history of the epidemic there has never been a confirmed case of transmission in that manner.

As for your symptoms, if they persist you should discuss them with your doctor. They are not about HIV. Period.
