oral sex
« on: April 19, 2017, 12:29:35 pm »
it seems that people have different views toward about giving oral sex risks, I have read many posts relating to performing oral sex in this site because Poz forusm gains really high popularity, you guys do a good job. but there is something which get my concerns and some advisers there gave different information, so could help me educate myself. Here are all my question I have already taken notes:

1. fresh and small bitten tongues, sores, or mouth cut inside a mouth of BJ giver which are BLEEDING during oral sex can be considered as viable routes for HIV transmission ? I only mean the risk for people who is giving oral sex.
2. the HIV risk of oral sex will still be low and only theoretical even if the person who sucks penis has meth mouth or other really bad oral health  and swallow a lot of cum ? it is right that there are FEW confirmed reported cases relating to this sexual practice and all of them are  lacking reliability ?
3. Is it true that pre-semen does not carry enough HIV for transmission ?
4. is there any air ( oxygen) inside mouth which also kill or deactive HIV transmission ?

I know there are a quiet many questions which takes you a specific long period of time to explain them in detail, but I only need the answer is short with two words " right " or " wrong ".
ps: English is not my mother tongue , and I hope you are able to catch me.

Hi

Look if you had a risk we provide assessment, we not here to debate or educate as such. Ill give you some info that may help you.

Firstly "oral" is a bit of a con - That covers so many sins and leads to widespread misunderstanding till today.  Any site that can't be bothered to break its risk or information listing on this topic to more specifics acts than just "oral" is from my personal point of view not worth reading to start with.

Ill talk about giving a BJ to be specific.

Here is the truth, in the past a lot of possible routes was very much debatable and early days was very much relying on just patient based reports (This includes claims aliens did it  :o )  Anyhow particularly post larger population studies, claims reduced of course and thanks to progression in science this combined has given the world a clear understanding of the conditions and routes needed to infect. Now even more so as we can compare HIV to understand if the claimed source could indeed be the source  ;)

Anyhow the mouth is hostile towards HIV, and saliva and air do indeed corrode the outer receptors needed to infect, the next barrier is the mouth itself that is void from the cells HIV can infect and reach unless there is damage to the mouth. Keeping mind even than mouth still has barriers mentioned before and on top of this sufficient quantity of viable HIV would be needed to cause infection.  When we're talking about damage as in open bleeding wounds as example or meth head.

All in all giving a BJ is such a low low towards negligible event, that there is no need to panic. Hence we tell people the truth, no need to panic or run out and spesificly test over giving a BJ just move on with your life and make sure to test at least yearly.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim

In total almost 19,000 instances of unprotected oral sex were estimated to have occurred involving the 135 couples over the ten years of the study,
but not a single case of HIV transmission was detected. The study authors conclude that:
“this seems to point to a very low probability of HIV transmission related to this practice.”

1)  Yes, theoretically.
2)  Yes.
3)  No, but research is inconclusive on this matter and whether HIV transmission
     has occurred via pre-semen.
4)  Yes, of course.

Hi Mr Jim, your post basically inspired my curiosity, there is a little disconnection between you and Mr Ptrk about open bleeding wound . A small bitten tongues or lips is bleeding during oral sex is considered as open bleeding wound ? Or how you define " open bleeding  wound ".

There is no disconnect.  The potential is theoretical only and would require a significant wound.

If you have any concerns, get tested for HIV antibodies.

I accidentally bite my tongue, and it was bleeding a little bit when I performed oral sex ( small open bleeding cut).  I am afraid that my bitten was actively bleeding can keep in contact with precum and semen because I tasted and swallowed a little bit before and after that.  Too long to get a test and find hard to move on with my life. Do you think I have a risk .
