Driving myself crazy!!!!!

Hello to all and hope everyone is having a wonderful day.
I am about to drive myself slam crazy. I am always worried about having a serious illness and I do not know why I get so bothered to the point I feel ill and cant eat or sleep. To the point, I met a guy a few weeks ago. We went out and had a good time doing things we shared in common. To close the night we began to kiss and one thing led to another. To make a long story short when we began to have sex he stuck his penis in me without a condom and at that moment I pulled it right out and told him I can not have unprotected sex. He apologized and then put the condom on. We continued but I stopped due to the fact that it bothered me so much the seconds his penis went inside me unprotected was all I could think of. Since then I been begging him to be tested as I have been a month prior. I do not recall any pre cum and I am 100% sure no semen was there due to the fact I stopped and went home. What are my chances of being infected and should I be tested for all STI/HIV? Thanks in advance......

Hi Mysterious , It would be highly unlikely to test positive over the brief insertion you described . Its low risk but not no risk , so it would be best to go ahead and test at 6 weeks past the incident and again at 3 months to confirm the result .

I would expect you to get a negative result if this incident is your only concern .

Sexual health checkups for all STD's and HIV testing is something all sexually active adults should be doing at least one a year , so if you haven't been doing this now is the perfect time to start . 

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than HIV. Some of the other Std's can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid HIV infection. It really is that simple!

Wow, thank you for such quick reply. I was my main concern. Before having sex he fingered me a little and performed oral sex on me. I have a scheduled appointment tomorrow for everything. I guess I will schedule another one for week six and three months. I am going to have some long days and nights. Thanks again

Neither fingering nor having oral sex are risks for hiv infection. Your only risk was the brief unprotected intercourse and as Jeff pointed out, you are unlikely to end up hiv positive because of it.

The vast majority of people who have actually been infected will seroconvert and test positive by six weeks, with the average time to seroconversion being only 22 days.

A six week negative is highly unlikely to change, but must be confirmed at the three month point. A six week negative should put your mind at ease.

I do not expect you to test positive over this brief incident, but you do need to test to be absolutely certain.

The fingering and oral sex wasn't a risk . There are proteins and enzymes in saliva that damage HIV and render it unable to infect , so no worries there . 

The brief insertion is low risk and I have not seen a person test positive that I have dealt with in your situation , so try not to worry too much , I just know your going top be OK .

So I been reading on this site for the past two or three days. Today being my first to post. The knowledge is priceless and I am also stressing more. After my encounter I have been having serious headaches, back pain here and there and pain in my left wrist and shoulder. I had a temp that reached at highest 99. something but not 100. Is these early signs of HIV?

We don't discuss symptoms because they are not specific to HIV and could possibly be countless numbers of reasons why you are having them .

The only way to know your HIV status is to test . In the mean time go live your life and quit reading about things that are going to upset you . You are going to have to wait 6 weeks past the incident to test , how you choose to spend that time is up to you but if it were me I wouldn't want to spend it googling what if .

Seriously? You admit to hunching over your computer for hours, obviously in a tense physical/mental state, reading everything you can click on about hiv, and then you come to us wanting to know if headache and back and shoulder pain have anything to do with hiv? Get off your butt and go get some exercise and fresh air instead of obsessing over hiv.

You're going to have to get productively busy with other things - and stay off hiv internet sites - while you wait for the appropriate time to test. All the reading in the world isn't going to ultimately change your situation one way or another.

I still fully expect you to test negative after this brief incident.

PS - Just to be perfectly clear; NO, those things you're complaining about have nothing to do with hiv itself. They do have everything to do with obsessing over hiv and spending every last available minute on your computer.
