Title: Tested Positive
Post by: comet on September 13, 2010, 11:05:09 am

I was tested HIV positive last month. CD4 count is 326. I was shocked initiallly and in disbelief. But decided that I had to fight this virus. Hope to get some support here online. Cheers

Thanks everyone for ur strong encouragement and support! I am so glad that I have found such a useful website and get into this forum. I was shocked abt my diagnosis for a while, but decided that I had to get over it and move on and pray for support and guidance. I have not gotten the viral load count results yet but would know in two week's time. Hope it would not be high. The doctor has not put me on medication yet for now.

Another welcome to the forums.   I'm new to posting but have been lurking ever since I got my poz results.

Your attitude is great and as others that have said here already having a good attitude helps in keeping things in check.

Thanks for the warm welcome Phildinftlaudy. I am sure life will be the same, in fact would be better as I am learning to treasure my life better, and those around me. I used to be reckless and indifferent towards many things in life, which I have taken for granted. I am now more thankful to God for my existence and learning to appreciate each day as it passes. Glad to have found frds like u online.

Thanks PozCAGuy for the warm welcome. Though we are HIV poz, we need to adopt a positive attitude towards life and people around us. I would not want to wallow in self pity and end up self destructing myself. I would learn to take care of myself more, treat myself, my body and people around me better and not take things for granted.

comet,

Welcome! After the initial shock and disbelief, one learns to live with hiv and you seem to have the right attitude --- that's a real plus. You'll be just fine ----- spoken by someone who has been poz for 19yrs this month.

Cheers,

v

Thanks veritas for the welcome. And i appreciate all ur efforts and contribution for ur insights and info on the aids research study and u are indeed a role model for many of us. I am also hoping for a cure, but at this moment, it would be more about coping with possible treatment. But I am prepared for the long fight against the virus, hopefully with an eventual  cure for all of us here.

Comet!

I wish I had your attitude when I found out! Keep up the strong and solid mindset!! I came back a 574 and was disappointed with a VL of 34,400 and was just a wreck.. Living in Southern California where everything seems "Perfect" life can be pressuring to maintain a certain lifestyle. I just don't get why people run so fast in the opposite direction knowing they face the same problems and possibilities as WE'VE faced everyday..

Just keep your head up and know you have support here..

Thanks thankyoulilmijo for the support, I will certainly keep my head up and hang on there, to combat the virus. Hopefully in the near future, we would all have a cure, to eradicate this virus from our system.

Hi frds,

I have got my viral load results today. Around 774000 and the doc put me on the following medication:

Tenofovir
lamiVUDINE
Efavirenz

Hope the combination would help me to reduce the VL and this is the first line of treatment from what I have heard from the doc
