World AIDS Day 2014
« on: December 01, 2014, 01:16:27 pm »
Today, I remember all those we lost, and pray for those of us who are left to carry on.  I'm tired this WAD; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.  I know I can say that here with no judgement.  I'm just tired of it all.  I wonder why I'm here, and I wonder if all my struggles were worth it.

Blessings on us all.

Yes AlanBama , it has all been worth it . You are alive , hopefully doing well .
You have friends on this web site that love you .
I often wonder why I am here , all my past friends are dead  :'(
But for the grace of GOD I am still here , I try to enjoy everyday .  That does not always work out .
With the Holidays upon us I will get depressed . I was lucky to have the past two Christmases in
Connecticut with my family . I was working my ass off rebuilding my sister's beach house , but I was with
my family that loves me , no strings attached , just love .
I hope you have family close to have a great Christmas .

Alan, I am glad you are here. I also understand your feelings.

I really only commemorate World AIDS Day these days if I have something to do that is work related.

I think I have spent too many years remembering. I have grown weary.

I sometimes wonder why I have survived while others didn't. I also wonder how long I am expected to carry on the fight.

It seems I get one thing under control, and something else pops up.

Alan, I know these past few months have been especially difficult for you. I don't have any sage advice, but I wanted you to know I care and that you are in my thoughts.

I also agree with Carl. My holidays used to be spent with my mother and family. My mother is no longer with me, and I spent Thanksgiving with my sister and her family, including her in-laws.

They were all very nice to me and treated me as part of the family, but inside, I didn't feel like part of the family. I have no shared history with my sister's in-laws, and even my sister and I really don't live similar lives. Not at all.

I had spent Christmas with my friend, Phil, in the past when I couldn't make it out of town. But he has moved to Hawaii.

So this year, I have no traditions left to follow.

I plan to spend the week of Christmas with friends in Ouray, Colorado. This will be something new. I guess we'll see how it all works out.

HUGS,

Mark

Wow, I'm so glad I read this and see that others are feeling the same way I do.  With my parents gone, I get together with my sister and brother-in-law, but like you Mark, I don't run in my sister's circle.  With everything that's gone on, I feel sometimes like just giving up.  But that's a familiar feeling that usually fades with time.

If my fellow LTS'ers can carry on I suppose I must also.  I am so weary.

I actually forgot it was WAD until I looked in my email today.  Strange.  I also remember my friends who are no longer on the earth and have to do what they did, and continue to forge on.

I am very grateful for all of you here, and thanks Alan for starting this.

It was a fairly tiring time for me in Sydney. There was a lot of fund raising activities and publicity work in the lead up to WAD or as I call it Red Accessory Day. I spent the Friday night and Saturday night rattling collection buckets outside an assortment of theatres. Home about midnight both nights.

The media in Australia finally caught up to the story that there is this 'new' thing called Prep. Finally Australia is launching some Prep trials, but it will be years before approval for prescriptions comes through.

So all in all WAD was pretty good down here.
